Mary Gallagher appointed dean of the Keough School of Global Affairs

An expert in Chinese domestic politics, political economy and industrial relations, Gallagher will also hold a tenured faculty position in the Keough School and begins her five-year term as dean on July 1.
Doug Thompson, current vice president for equity and inclusion at Gustavus Adolphus College, has been appointed as the inaugural executive director of diversity and engagement in the Division of Student Affairs

In this role, Thompson will oversee the newly established Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in addition to Multicultural Student Programs and Services, the Gender Relations Center and the Office of Student Enrichment.

Testing emotional resiliency

Graduate psychology student Katie Edler is working to improve mental health. Edler’s research into developmental behavior focuses on how children learn emotional regulation from and with their parents. She works with about 100 families at the William J. Shaw Center for Children and Families alongside director Kristin Valentino.

Reimagined onboarding process to improve experience for new staff hires and hiring managers

NDHR has embarked upon a multi-year journey to transform the way employees interact with its services and offerings. Last year, the Self Service Center was launched, the first evolution of NDHR’s services. The second phase of this transformation focuses on central staff onboarding.

Fred Freeman Staff Scholarship applications due Friday, June 14

The Fred Freeman Scholarship is one of the many educational benefits available to non-exempt colleagues. The scholarship awards up to $2,000 per semester to eligible Notre Dame full-time, non-exempt staff and can be used to cover necessary education expenses such as tuition, books and fees.
