On April 9, 1995, the congregation that began with 13 people in August of 1994 in the home of Rev. Bruce Taylor, was officially named and constituted as Parkway Hills United Methodist Church. That day 50 people became the first full members of the church, with 20 children on the preparatory roll. The first worship service as an "official" United Methodist Church was an Easter Sunrise Service held on the church property the next Sunday.
We give thanks for all the individuals and all the varied gifts that brought Parkway Hills to this place, and we faithfully step into the next 30 years. May we continue to welcome, grow, serve, and celebrate trogether with God.

We shared the news Sunday, April 6 that our Associate Pastor of Children and Outreach ministries will be appointed to another United Methodist Church beginning July 1. In the words of our Lay Leader, Maggie King, “This time of year is always a season of change for our fellow congregations. Appointments have a way of being bittersweet – they are not meant to be forever, but we wish they were. We are so proud of Rev. Haven Boyd. How exciting that another church will soon come to know what we have been so greatly blessed with. For now, let’s soak up all the time we have left with Haven and make her send-off a joyful one to remember.” We give thanks for all the beautiful and meaningful ways Haven has enriched our children’s ministry, our outreach programs, and our church, and we pray for her next steps. You may send Haven your own well wishes here and watch for an upcoming date to celebrate Haven.
As we move forward together, know that our search committee has already met and is discerning the best next steps for Parkway Hills UMC.

Holy Week and Easter at Parkway Hills
There are numerous ways to walk through Holy Week together. Take a look, mark your calendar, and join your church family as we make our way to Resurrection Morning.
Sunday, April 13: Palm Sunday Worship and Easter Egg Hunts
Our children will lead us in worship at 10:45 am. Parents, please have your kids in the Extended Session Room by 9:30 to practice. Immediately following worship, children 5th and under and their families are invited to a light lunch in the Garden room followed by the Egg Hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny. Bring your baskets and a jar of peanut butter for MadCAAP. Youth, we need your help to hide eggs! The youth egg hunt will be that evening from 5:30-7:30 pm.
Monday, April 14-Wednesday, April 16: Holy Week Worship and Lunch
We will gather with Anderson UMC and St. Luke UMC from noon to 1:00 pm at St. Luke. Meet at Parkway Hills at 11:30 to carpool. Worship at noon, followed by lunch at 12:30. Lunch can be taken to go. Rev. Dr. Stephen Cook will preach Monday, Rev. Dawn Douglas Flowers, Tuesday, and Rev. Bruce Case Wednesday.
Thursday, April 17: Maundy Thursday Service at 6:00 pm
We are doing things a little differently this year. We will journey through the Seven Last Words of Christ using music, scripture, prayer and candles. A nursery will be provided and we will livestream the service.
Friday, April 18: Good Friday Stations of the Cross
Good Friday is a good day to walk through the Stations of the Cross we have on our campus. Come walk the stations anytime from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. You will begin and end in the worship center where a guided reflection will be provided.
Aid with our Easter Flower Cross:
Drop off flowers in the worship center kitchen anytime between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Friday, April 18 or no later than 10:00 am Saturday morning.
Help decorate the cross Saturday, April 19 at 9:00 am outside the worship center kitchen. Contact Chere Peel or Barbara Pepper for more info.
Easter Day Worship: 8:30 and 10:45 am
Nursery provided for both services. The 10:45 am service will be livestreamed.

Sunday, April 27 we will continue to celebrate Easter with worship on the lawn and a Youth Cookout Lunch Fundraiser!
Bring a chair and join us at 10:45 am to enjoy worship outside on our beautiful campus then stick around for a meal together inside the worship center to support our youth ministry. Tickets are $12 and include burger, beans, chips, drink, and dessert. To aid with preparation, please purchase a ticket by April 23 so we can be ready for a great day at the table together. Tickets can be purchased through the Vanco mobile app, via this link, or from one of our youth after worship each Sunday. April 27 service will not be livestreamed.

Easter Day is always a wonderful morning of worship and hope within the life of the church. It is a day we see new faces as well as faces we haven't seen in some time. We need your help to make Easter Day welcoming and hospitable for all. We will offer worship at 8:30 am and 10:45 am. If you are willing and able to be a greeter, usher, Honor/Memorial Candle lighter, or Communion server, click here and sign up. Signup only has Communion servers listed for the 8:30 am service, as we are hoping to have some of our college students aid with serving Communion during the 10:45 am service.

Easter CandlesOur annual honor/memorial fund for Easter candles supports the Youth Trip Scholarship Fund to aid our youth in covering the cost of the various trips and retreats throughout the year because money should never be the reason one of our youth cannot participate. To purchase your candle in honor or memory of a loved one click here. For each name remembered or honored, cost is $10. You can pay via check (mark "Easter Candle" in the memo), online, or via our Vanco mobile app (look for "Easter Candles"). Reservation forms are also available in the foyer of the Worship Center and in the Church Office. Deadline for reservation is Wednesday, April 16.

Baccalaureate Sunday--May 4thSwing by the youth suite at 9:30 am May 4 to grab some food and wish our graduates well, then join us for worship at 10:45 as we recognize our seniors! Families of high school and college seniors, please reach out to Geoff by April 22 if somehow we missed contacting you so we can be sure to include your graduate.

College finals are looming, which means it's care package season! Use this form to register yourself or your student by Wednesday, April 23.

We need your help! We are behind on plastic eggs and candy. Eggs can be prefilled with candy. Please drop off eggs and candy by tomorrow. You can bring prefilled eggs on Sunday morning. Contact Pastor Haven if you would like to assist in filling eggs with candy.

| Join us for Sunday School! The children's ministry will continue hearing the many stories in the Bible as we journey through the Old and New Testaments. All ages begin in the Garden Room at 9:30 a.m. for gathering time and activities. Then the classes break into small groups based on grade levels to explore the Bible stories. To sign up to teach an individual class one Sunday, *click here or contact Haven to be added to a rotation.
New Dates!! Join us for VBS at Parkway Hills June 15-18. Children entering K5 - rising 6th grade are welcome to come and explore the Waves of Wonder at PHUMC.
We always need volunteers to aid with our kids ministry. For more information about any of our kids ministry events contact Pastor Haven.

| Egg Hunts: Be sure to join us April 13, Palm Sunday. We'll help with the Kids Ministry egg hunt after morning worship, and have our own fun that evening at 5:30!
Need community service hours? Rev. Walter Roberts at Leavell Woods UMC has reached out to us to ask about any students willing to help with a community Easter egg hunt in exchange for hours this Saturday April 12, 10:30am-1:30pm. For more info, check out this month's youth newsletter or contact Geoff so that Walter will know to expect you.
Summer Mission Trip: June 28-July 6. We are partnering with Appalachian Service Project! So far, we have 16 youth participating. Cost: $375 with a $100 discount for each additional sibling. $100 nonrefundable deposit was due March 23. Reach out to Pastor Dawn ASAP if you missed this deadline. Next $100 due April 27, and final payments due May 11. For more info, contact Pastor Dawn.
