APL’s Ultracompact, Efficient Cooling Device Earns 2023 R&D 100 Award

The Wearable Thin-Film Thermoelectric Cooling (TFTEC) device, developed at APL, was named as a 2023 R&D 100 Awards winner as one of the top 100 revolutionary technologies in the world.

The wearable TFTEC device is just a little more than one millimeter thick, weighs only 0.05 grams — similar to a thin adhesive bandage — and can provide intense cooling in less than a second.

4th Annual Cislunar Security Conference

December 5-7, 2023 • Johns Hopkins APL

The Cislunar Security Conference is a forum on the technology, policy, doctrine and strategy implications of ensuring free access to, transit to and use of the Earth-Moon system beyond geosynchronous equatorial orbit. Space is quickly becoming an even more critical part of the nation’s scientific and national security agendas, with increased attention on activities in the vicinity of the Moon and on its surface. The goal for this conference is to encourage national-level technical discourse related to domain awareness, policy and strategy, communications and infrastructure, trajectory design, threats and position, navigation and timing for cislunar security.
