For more than 35 years, UM-Dearborn has honored outstanding alumni for their contributions to the University and community. These men and women are "difference makers" who have continued the University's legacy of leadership in their lives and careers.
On October 9, the university will recognize several distinguished alumni at its annual awards celebration. Three of those to be honored are CASL alumni:

CASL students participate in Emergency Medicine Research Associate Program
A new University of Michigan-Dearborn partnership with St. Mary Mercy Hospital gives undergraduate students an inside look at clinical research. An inaugural group of seven UM-Dearborn students recently completed the yearlong Emergency Medicine Research Associate Program (EMRAP).
Billons of songbirds travel long distances during their annual migrations. Researchers have long believed that, in order to conserve energy, these birds might pick an altitude with favorable winds and stick with it rather than climbing and descending repeatedly.
A new study by University of Michigan-Dearborn Assistant Professor of Biology Melissa Bowlin shows that’s not necessarily the case.
Study Abroad in Poland
Enlightenment through education is key to making the world a better place. It is the ideal that propelled UM-Dearborn to offer a month-long undergraduate study trip to Poland, where students explored Polish history and learned about one of the darkest periods in human history.

scholarship recipients
The CASL Alumni Affiliate hosted its 19th annual scholarship celebration reception on September 10.  The event provided a great opportunity for the five student scholarship recipients, along with their parents and other family members, to meet some of the scholarship donors and to thank the Alumni Affiliate volunteers for their work in raising these funds.
Thank you for your gifts to the Annual Fund!
