Meeting Date: Thursday, March 9
Time: 7 - 8:30 p.m.
Location: Bradford K-8 North, 2 Woodruff
Please join representatives from Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District and Jefferson County Schools for an informational meeting regarding proposed ball fields at the Bradford K-8 North School (formerly called Bradford Intermediate). This will serve as a special meeting of the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District Board.

Water District Converting to Monthly Billing in April

Starting on April 1, the Ken-Caryl Water and Sanitation District will begin billing customers on a monthly basis instead of a bi-monthly basis. This change will help customers track their water usage and detect possible leaks sooner, as well as help better manage household budgets. The new monthly billing system means that water meters will be read monthly, and customer’s bills will reflect one month of water usage. For more information on monthly billing and rates, please visit ken-carylwater.org.

Master Association Board Approves Beehives in Open Space

Ken-Caryl resident Ed Galisewski is planning to install beehives in the North Hogback Open Space later this spring. Ed, who is interested in beekeeping as a hobby and in bolstering the declining honeybee population, will supply the hives, the honeybees and fencing for the project. The Open Space Committee and the Master Association Board both approved Ed’s request. The project will be supported on a trial, one-year basis with an option to continue in future years if both parties agree. If you have any questions, contact Open Space Manager Sean Warren at seanw@kcranch.org or 303-979-1876, ext. 163.

Master Association Board Election Ends March 7 at 5 p.m.

For the first time, Master Association Board voting instructions were sent electronically via email from Vote HOA to those households and businesses with an email address in our accounting system. A postcard from Vote HOA was mailed to those households and businesses that don't have an email address in our accounting system. While you are encouraged to vote online, you can make an appointment to vote in person with a paper ballot at the Ranch House by calling 303-979-1876. The election closes March 7 at 5 p.m., and the winners will be announced later that night. Click on the link below for candidate bios.

Save the Date: Rocky Mountain Fur Trade Presentation April 6

We have all heard about the Gold Rush that brought tens of thousands of people into Colorado, but did you know that decades before the Rush fur trappers and traders traveled up the Front Range creeks in search of beaver, perhaps even across Ken-Caryl and up Deer Creek? On Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Ranch House, the Ken-Caryl Ranch Historical Society will host Michael Schaubs, living historian and authority, who will present “The 1837 Fort Jackson Trading Camp Inventory: A Typical Outfit for the Plains Indian Trade.” The program is based on the actual inventory of a trading party along the Arkansas River. Typical trading protocols will be discussed and reproductions of typical trade goods will be displayed.

Equestrian Center Task Force Update

An Equestrian Center Task Force comprised of both boarders and non-boarders of the Ken-Caryl community was formed to develop recommendations for short-term and long-term facility improvements. The goal of the EC Task Force is to gather community input from those with horses at the facility and those of the broader community. As a first step, the EC Task Force sent a survey to boarders to gain feedback on areas of interest for improvements to the facility. Once that analysis is complete, the EC Task Force will survey the broader community for input. Look for further updates from the EC Task Force and a survey coming to you in the near future.

New Trail Now Has Official Name: Golden Banner Trail

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space Committee recently called for nominations for a new trail name for Lower Question Mark Peak Loop Trail, which was completed in 2016. The new trail is in the southern section of the Foothills Open Space and forms a 1.7-mile-long loop south of the upper reaches of Massey Draw and High Meadow Trail. After reviewing the nominations, the Committee and the Master Association Board voted in favor of naming it Golden Banner Trail. Golden Banner is a wildflower that is abundant in the area. Thank you to the 20 people who provided nominations and to Dan Mullins for coming up with the winning name.
