DE LA SALLE GIVING DAY

October 23, 2018

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, we will be celebrating De La Salle Giving Day. Every gift received will benefit every student, every day of the school year.

Our goal is simple: for 300 donors to make their annual gift to De La Salle on or before #DLSGivingDay, and to raise over $100,000 for the Annual Fund. Follow and share De La Salle High School on social media – Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter – to hear from Spartans past and present, and the lifelong impact De La Salle has had on them.

#Give2DLS - You can make your gift today, on #DLSGivingDay, or anytime in between. Consider making a gift in honor of the year of our founding, 1965:  $19.65, $196.50, $1,965, or even $19,650! All gifts are treasured. Through your support, you can give future De La Salle alumni a GREAT gift this year.

INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY & RESPECT FOR ALL PERSONS

As we move into the 2018-19 school year, students, faculty, staff, and coaches will continue to receive education around the important Lasallian Principles, Inclusive Community and Respect for All Persons. A new webpage has been added to our website to help curate and promote the wonderful things our community is doing surrounding these initiatives.

SCHOOLOGY PARENT ACCESS

In the middle of August, a mass emailing went out to ALL parents of De La Salle students containing the unique Parent Access Code for signing up for Schoology. This is where teachers post assignments, post course resources (like handouts, lecture notes, or presentations), and where some will ask to complete work online.
Schoology is particularly useful if a student has missed class due to absence. Schoology also contains a calendar with all of the student’s assignments and major projects/assessments across all courses. Faculty and students at both Carondelet and De La Salle utilize Schoology for their courses. If you did not receive an email with your Parent Access Code and instructions for signing up, please email Mr. Michael Aquino, Director of Educational Technology (aquinom@dlshs.org).

TECH BOOT CAMP PARENT TECH RESOURCES

All incoming 9th graders and transfers were given access to and showed how to use the wide variety of technology tools during our Summer Boot Camp. All students who attended Boot Camp have access for the remainder of the semester to the Tech Boot Camp Schoology course where they can go back and revisit information they’ve forgotten. The Library staff is also available to assist with student technology access issues.

The Educational Technology Director maintains a webpage of Parent Technology Resources including resources for device tracking, helping your student maintain focus with devices/screen time, and opportunities for parent education.
HONOR ROLL FOR 2017-18 - SEMESTER 2

DID YOU KNOW?

A fun fact about Lasallian tradition
As the Christian Brothers community expanded, Saint John Baptist de La Salle asked his fellow Brothers to write to him every month with updates "on community relationships, their efforts in the classroom, their progress in praryer, and their fidelity to their community practices" (The Letters of John Baptist de La Salle). Consider this newsletter as one way we continue this communications tradition!
