Punk rock president: Mount’s ‘Mohawk Hairdo Challenge’ raises $25,000 for Student Emergency Fund

If the Mount Saint Mary College community could raise $24,000 in 24 hours for their Student Emergency Fund, college President Dr. Jason N. Adsit promised to shave his hair into a mohawk.
The Mount community banded together, raising more than $25,000 in one day. The College was able to assist 140 students due to the generosity of our alumni, faculty, staff and benefactors. True to his word, Dr. Adsit’s wife, Heather, give him his new punk rock-inspired hairdo half an hour later as hundreds watched live on Instagram. Read More

In the trenches: Mount Nursing students fight COVID-19 pandemic

As the COVID-19 pandemic intensifies throughout the country, many Mount Saint Mary College Nursing students are fighting back on the frontlines.

Mount donates thousands of disposable gloves, additional PPE to fight COVID-19

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mount Saint Mary College has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) – including more than 7,000 disposable gloves and hundreds of masks and gowns – to local hospitals, retirement homes, and the temporary hospital at the Javits Center in Manhattan. Mount students continue to mentor Bishop Dunn fifth graders virtually

Mount Saint Mary College’s Student Government Association (SGA) has enjoyed mentoring the fifth grade class of Bishop Dunn Memorial School for several months – and they weren’t going to let COVID-19 stop them.

Working ... with children

April 23 was National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day – or as it’s known during the current COVID-19 pandemic, Thursday.
It’s been about five weeks since Mount Saint Mary College transitioned to temporary online learning to keep its community safe. While the college community has managed the transition nicely, many faculty and staff have the added challenge of working from home while also taking care of their children.

Mount professor named fellow of Rockefeller Institute

Jenifer Lee-Gonyea, associate professor of Criminology at Mount Saint Mary College, was recently selected as a Rockefeller Institute Fellow for 2020-2021.
The mission of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government is to improve communities, local and state governments, and federal systems by finding solutions to the nation’s most pressing issues. The institution was founded in 1981. Read More
