Damron Addresses Withdrawal Syndromes |
Sara Damron, assistant professor of nursing and option coordinator, adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner program, was invited to speak at the National Conference for Nurse Practitioners in Acute Care in Orlando. Damron provided educational information to fellow nurse practitioners regarding strategies for managing acute alcohol and substance withdrawal syndromes during her session, titled, “Alcohol and Substance Use Withdrawal in the Hospitalized Patient.”

| Desai Has New Book Chapter and Article |
A book chapter by Dr. Hrishikesh Desai, associate professor of accounting, has been published in Springer’s World Sustainability Series. He identifies threshold conditions under which deepfake campaigns yield short-term engagement benefits but ultimately risk long-term brand equity erosion. His findings provide practical guidance for using deepfake technology ethically. Also, his article on how AI tools are disrupting traditional ideas of assessment was published by UNESCO on its Futures of Education portal.

Webb Joins Study of Chemical Usage |
Sarah Webb, assistant research professor, Ecotoxicology Research Facility, was recently added as a community scientist to the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Thriving Earth Exchange team for a project in Desha County, Arkansas. The project goal is to increase understanding of how agricultural pesticide and herbicide use has affected environmental health, and how changes in agricultural practices may contribute to increased flood risk. | Philhours and Mello Present Study |
Dr. Melodie Philhours (left), associate professor of marketing, Dr. John Mello (right), professor of supply chain management, and a colleague from Samford University presented research at the Association of Marketing Theory and Practice 2026 Conference. Their initial work developed a model of consumer response to extreme scarcity within a single product category; their subsequent study expanded this framework to examine product unavailability across multiple categories. Findings indicate that the model holds across both contexts, offering important managerial implications.

Green and Alumni Earn Achievement Award |
Dr. Steve Green, professor of soil and water conservation, was recognized with the 2026 Agricultural Achievement Award at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show in Memphis, along with alumni Isaac and Meagan Davis who farm near Oil Trough in Independence County. They were recognized for their work in promoting innovation, efficiency, conservation and environmental practices. Green joined the College of Agriculture faculty in 2006.
