UNO Engineering Students Win Regional Steel Bridge Competition, Advance to Nationals

A team of University of New Orleans engineering students won the steel bridge competition at the ASCE 2023 Gulf Coast Student Symposium, held March 9-11 at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. UNO’s team beat out 15 other universities from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
The Privateers will advance to the national competition in June in San Diego, CA.

University of Louisiana System Day at the Capitol
|
On Tuesday, April 27th Dr. Vincent Yu, Ryan Thiel, Zoe Giles, and NAME student Tamara Lepore represented RASCOE in Baton Rouge at the Pentagon Barracks for the ULS’ Day At the Capitol. Several other universities in the ULS System were also present.

| RASCOE's Engineering Career Fair

On Thursday, April 6 the College of Engineering hosted an Engineering Career Fair open to all engineering students. More than 30 companies from industry were present to chat about internships and career opportunities. Industry recruiters were able to mingle with 100+ students throughout the day at the TRAC Center.

NSBE Senior Recognition and Alumni Banquet

On Friday, April 28th, UNO's National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) chapter hosted their annual Senior Recognition & Alumni Banquet in the UC Innsbruck Suite. NSBE honored seven Spring 2023 graduates and recognized several NSBE alumni members in attendance.

Semester's End and Senior Activities

The Spring 2023 semester is on it’s way to a close. While it is bittersweet, we have some fun activities planned to honor our faculty, staff and graduating seniors.

The College will continue the tradition of Engineering Cap Day. Join us for our Engineering Cap Day Cookout on Thursday, May 11 from 12 - 2 p.m. in the Engineering Breezeway.

On Friday, May 19 at 9 a.m., RASCOE will be hosting the Order of Engineer Ceremony in the Dohse Auditorium prior to commencement. Join us as we bridge the gap between training and experience for our upcoming engineers.

Help New UNO STEM Students Get Ahead
|
The UNO STEM Scholars Camp is a crucial 5-day intensive transition or "boot camp" for incoming freshmen students in late July. The camp allows incoming STEM students a chance to attend lectures, meet people and get a jump start on their coursework, all in a relaxed and safe environment. Your support will help make this program accessible to all incoming STEM freshmen.
