Donate to the Brebeuf Food Drive!

How to Help

To contribute to the drive, send any canned food items to Brebeuf Jesuit with a Brebeuf student, who will deliver the items to their homeroom collection. To contribute monetarily (Make checks out to: St. Vincent de Paul, memo: Food Pantry), bring donations of support to the front lobby desk at Brebeuf Jesuit.

By coming together during this food drive, the entire Brebeuf Jesuit community can make an incredible difference in the lives of thousands in need here in Indianapolis! Let’s bring in those cans to your student’s homeroom and support St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry.

Student Spotlight

CAROLINE GARDNER '16
Loves about Brebeuf:
I love the people here at Brebeuf. My classmates and teachers are all really excited about what we are doing in school. The way we interact with people is special because everyone is really looking out for each other and cares about one another. Teachers and other students are willing to help you with classwork. Teachers care about you beyond being a student; they care about you as a person.
Favorite Class:
I have three favorite classes. I like AP U.S. History with Mr. Tague, AP Literature with Mr. Wagner, and AP Comparative Government with Mr. Kantz. I am really interested in the ways people interact with each other, and that interaction is showcased in writing, history, and government. They are all interesting topics to learn.
Future Plans:
I’m leaning towards attending Georgetown University to study government, English literature, and creative writing. In the future, I hope to work in, or for the government, or be a poet.
Teams & Co-Curriculars:

Cross Country (Captain)
Track and Field
Senior Class President
Conservation Club
Presidential Ambassador
Admissions Ambassador
Model United Nations
Kairos Leader
Random Fact:
I have webbed feet and can do a cartwheel going either left or right.
Is Brebeuf as academically rigorous as they say?
I think Brebeuf is academically rigorous because of the wide variety of classes offered and the difficulty of those classes. I like that you can take different classes that interest you and then take the advanced classes to challenge yourself. Math may take the most time to complete, but teachers are willing to help you understand the material, making it more manageable.
Teachers enjoy what they teach. Even if the material is hard, it still makes learning it interesting for students. For example, in AP Literature we had to do an assignment where we acted out a scene. It was pretty difficult because it combined a lot of different things such as analyzing material, acting, and giving a presentation in class. Even though it was challenging, it was still fun to do and to be able to work with others.
Would you rather…
Visit the past or future?
I would visit the past because I think that it would be fun to see what society was like long ago, specifically in the 1920s.
Win the lottery or live twice as long?
I would rather win the lottery because I could use the money to see places I wouldn’t get to see otherwise with my family and friends.
Meet an alien visitor or travel to outer space?
I would rather meet the alien visitor on Earth because I’m a big fan of Earth, especially America.
Go to the movie theater or stay home with Netflix?
I would rather go to the movie theater because I would be more likely to stay awake for the whole movie.
Talk to animals or speak five foreign languages?
I would rather speak five foreign languages because it would make traveling a lot easier. Also, if you understand someone else’s language, then it’s easier to understand their culture.

Brebeuf Students Donate Hundreds of Stuffed Toys to IMPD for Kids in Need

Before Thanksgiving, Ms. Manton’s daughter Hannah, and her brother, Dylan, donated two bags of their gently used stuffed animals to Brebeuf Jesuit’s School Resource Officer, Officer Wooten. Officer Wooten and other IMPD officers keep stuffed animals in the back of their cars to give to children to ease the anxiety they feel during traumatic situations. After Christmas Break, Officer Wooten told Ms. Manton that he had already gone through the two bags that were donated.
Upon hearing the news that the original toys had been handed out, Hannah organized a drive at her school, and Ms. Manton asked her students at Brebeuf to join up and help out.

The result was amazing! Brebeuf Jesuit students collected over 450 stuffed animals to combine with the more than 200 that Hannah and her after-school program collected!

Upcoming Diveristy Dialogue - February 23

The next diversity dialogue was inspired by the current political process that is playing out in front of us in its usual messy, intriguing fashion. This dialogue is being co-led by members of the Young Republicans and Young Democrats, and the goal of the dialogue is to accomplish what has largely eluded the parties themselves: to engage in a dialogue about the parties in a quest for greater understanding.

Representatives from the two clubs will give their answers to questions formulated by the other club, and the exchanges will be the basis of further discussion later in the dialogue. The clubs are driven by a desire to promote greater interest and engagement with the political process among their peers, and, perhaps, model a way forward from the often-stubborn insistence on being right that prohibits needed progress on the issues facing our nation. World peace is not the goal of this dialogue; civil, but honest discourse is.

The Diversity Dialogue will be held next Tuesday, February 23 from 11:50 a.m. – 12:50 p.m. in the Auditorium.

Brebeuf Teacher Rosina Khan Selected to Serve on Indiana Department of Education's Advisory Council

Brebeuf Jesuit Latin Teacher Rosina Khan has been selected to serve on the Indiana Department of Education’s Global Learning Advisory Council. The Office of College and Career Readiness, in conjunction with the Office of English Learning and Migrant Education, created this Global Learning Advisory Council (GLAC).
