25 Days Remain Until the Deadline for PA Real Estate License Renewal
Real estate agents can now renew their real estate licenses through the Pennsylvania Licensing System (PALS). The Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission has emailed licensees to notify them that renewals are being accepted and must be completed by Sunday, May 31, 2026.
All licensees must complete the 14-hour CE requirements PRIOR to renewing their license. CE requirements are different depending on when your license was issued. Those who do not have copies of their transcripts should contact the schools where they took their courses. Transcripts for courses taken through The Association of REALTORS® School are available in member's Secure Member Portal. Please note, proof of transcripts are no longer required as part of the license renewal process and are not submitted or uploaded into the system.
For agents who still need to complete continuing education, a full calendar of Accredited courses is available here.

*Important Waiver Period Notice for New Licensees
Licenses issued between March 1, 2026 - May 31, 2026 automatically come with a 2028 expiration date, meaning the license is valid through the next renewal cycle. This is referred to as a "Waiver Period."
Licensees who receive their real estate license during the “Waiver Period” are not required to complete continuing education, and do not need to pay for or submit a license renewal application during this cycle.
We encourage all members to log into their Pennsylvania Licensing System account to confirm the expiration date on their license(s).
*Important Note: Renewal Deadline Falls on a Sunday. Plan to Complete by Friday 5/29 if Assistance is Needed.
Renewals must be completed online by Sunday, May 31. If an agent misses the May 31 deadline, the State Real Estate Commission considers the license expired, and real estate practice must immediately cease or be subject to possible discipline.
Do not wait until the last minute to renew. Tri-County Suburban REALTORS® is staffed through Friday, May 29, until 4:30pm for questions regarding renewal. The State Real Estate Commission will not be available for questions on Sunday, May 31.

PAR: AANHPI Heritage Month: Asian American Homebuyers Increase |
| |
This May, PAR recognizes Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
In 2023, Asian Americans saw some of the largest gains in homeownership among racial groups, according to the National Association of Realtors® 2025 Snapshot of Race and Home Buying in America. From 2013 to 2023, the Asian American homeownership rate increased from 57.8% to 63.4%. This gain translates to about 1.6 million more Asian-owner households over the decade.
Compared to other racial demographics, Asian American homeowners lag slightly behind the White homeownership rate (72.4%) but rise above the Black (44.7%) and Hispanic (51.0%) homeownership rates.
Across all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., the Asian American homeownership rate ranged from 30% (North Dakota) to 75% (Hawaii). In Pennsylvania, the rate was 63%.
Although Asian Americans have the highest homeownership rate among minority racial groups, they continue to face barriers and challenges throughout the homebuying process.
“AANHPIs have the highest income on average out of all racial groups, as well as the highest average credit score,” notes the Asian Real Estate Association of America’s 2024 State of Asia America Report. “Despite that, the Urban Institute found higher denial rates for Asian applicants than their White counterparts at all income and DTI levels.”

SRA: Kennett Square Looks to Limit Short-Term Rentals |
| |
Kennett Square Borough Council will consider a revised short-term rentals ordinance that seeks to balance tourism concerns with maintaining a supply of attainable housing for young or first-time buyers. The draft ordinance, developed after residents grew concerned about several homes becoming full-time, short-term rentals, would establish that short-term rentals can only be in accessory dwelling units — like above a garage or in a guest house — within residential districts, with a limit of one short-term rental on the property at a time. Short-term rentals would be allowed as a principal use in the commercial district. The proposal also recommends a cap of 20 throughout the borough, with the roughly 25 existing short-term rentals grandfathered in.
