Attorney General Jeff Landry led the LADOJ through a groundbreaking month of April. Protecting Louisiana's people and their freedoms, our office continues fighting and winning for Louisiana. Below are some highlights from the successful month.

The oil and gas industry provides great-paying jobs to thousands of Louisianans, revenues that fund our schools and protect our coast, and reliable energy to heat our homes and fuel our cars. So we are grateful the D.C. Circuit upheld the rule of law and dismissed a challenge to Gulf of Mexico Lease Sale 257, which Congress unequivocally ordered to take place after the Biden Administration unlawfully sought to halt oil and gas leasing.

AG Jeff Landry joined a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general in asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case of decorated Army veteran James Rudisill and to protect veterans’ rights. We hope the Court follows the rule of law and protects the rights of Mr. Rudisill and the thousands of his fellow post 9/11 veterans.

In an interview with Fox News, AG Jeff Landry explained the investigation we launched into Franklin Templeton and others deeply embedded with Climate Action 100+. By focusing on the radical ESG agenda, they may be violating their fiduciary duties to shareholders in our State.

Solicitor General Liz Murrill assisted in writing legislation that would prevent rapists from having parental rights in the event that a child was conceived.

Two men investigated by our Cyber Crime Unit have been brought to justice. Charles Lafleur of Ville Platte and James Martin of Beckville (TX) were convicted of child pornography offenses and sentenced to prison. We will continue doing all we can to to hold child predators accountable.

In a major victory for New Orleans, a federal appeals court blocked Consent Decree overreach. Siding with the Attorney General and the Mayor, the Fifth Circuit held that nothing in the NOPD Consent Decree allowed for Judge Susie Morgan to force numerous local officials to appear at a press conference and make statements about the consent judgment.

AG Jeff Landry announced his support for legislation that would provide no-cost, easy online access to criminal court records and case information for victims, families of defendants, members of the public, and the press.

AG Jeff Landry has joined Louisiana to a 17-state legal brief supporting Florida’s healthcare regulation that denies Medicaid welfare coverage for gender transitioning procedures. More on this effort may be found here.

AG Jeff Landry led a 21-state coalition opposing proposed standards for conventional cooking products created by Joe Biden’s Department of Energy. The proposed rule would regulate the types of stoves and ovens Americans use to cook. Among other things, it would make over half of the gas stoves currently on the market illegal.

AG Jeff Landry is intervening in LCMC Health's lawsuit against the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice over the federal government’s challenge of the Certificate of Public Advantage approved by our office last year.

Ascension Parish parents began receiving Child ID Kits for their students in kindergarten through fifth grades. The free kits include an inkless fingerprinting kit, a DNA sample collection, physical identification information, a place for a recent photo, and easy to use instructions. This gift of safety does not enter a database; rather, it allows parents to store their children’s vital information in the security of their own homes.
