Survey Says . . .
Thanks to the over 200 people who have already filled out the long range planning survey and expressed their views. The long range plan being developed this summer will have a lasting impact on our community. And it will likely involve a significant expenditure. So, it’s important to have as much input as possible. There are still hundreds more of you from whom we want to hear. Click here for the survey.
What have we heard so far well, over 30% of those responding come to the Ranch House three or more times a week. But 20% come in only a few times a year. Almost everyone likes the shaded areas around the pool. The most popular improvement would be to offer better food options. That’s the view of 45% percent of those responding.
How many folks would be interested in massages if they were available at the Ranch House? Survey says over half of those responding would. That’s a lot of sore muscles and stiff necks!
And the survey says that 67% of the respondents either play pickleball or would be interested in playing pickleball. And most would play at the Ranch House if there were courts. Meantime, almost 68% never play tennis and only 7.5% use the tennis courts three or more times a week.
It is this kind of input that the long range planning committee both needs and appreciates. So, if you haven’t yet filled out the survey, please, please do it now. It will only be open until July 20. Yes, the deadline for responding is July 20. So, give your input by clicking here now and taking the survey.
We’ll share much more of the survey results at the July 27 Annual Meeting, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Barn. Thanks!

Wild Fire Preparation
On June 29 the Carbondale Fire Department hosted a fire safety presentation at the Ranch House. There was a lot of great information and good conversation shared.
We learned that it is important that you are set up before wildfire strikes. Prepare yourself and your household for the possibility of having to Evacuate.
Here are 3 steps to getting started:
- Create a wildfire action plan that includes evacuation planning for your home, family, and pets.
- Assemble an emergency supply kit for each person in your household.
- Fill out a Family Communication Plan that includes important evacuation and contact information.

Water Reduction
RVRMA is starting a water reduction initiative on portions of Crystal Bridge Drive. Areas along Crystal Bridge that are currently native grass and mostly empty lots bordering native lands will be tested with a reduced watering schedule. Additionally, we will allow some grass areas on Crystal Bridge to grow higher than normal. This will allow the grass to hold more water and reduce evaporative loss.
You may see a change in the appearance of grass in these test areas. We thank you for your patience as we try different tactics to help reduce the amount of water we utilize in our common areas.

Green Tip
Please enjoy the following eco-friendly tidbit brought to you by Friends of the Environment:
Recycling involves more than tossing aluminum, glass, paper, and certain plastics into your recycling can every week. Did you know that a local Carbondale company called EverGreen ZeroWaste has an app for your phone to help you figure out what to do with items for recycling, or if an item is even recyclable? It is designed for the Roaring Fork Valley so you can get suggestions for local places to take certain items. It's very simple to use and you can type in any item, such as aluminum pie plates, a dog leash, hand warmers, or rugs. The free app is called Love Zero Waste and you can find it wherever you get your apps. Give it a try!

Budget Planning
In preparation for budget season, RVR management is taking a proactive approach this year. As discussed at June's Board meeting, a draft timeline has been created.

Dead Tree Initiative
RVRMA management has launched a dead tree removal initiative in RVR common areas. We have started the removal of all dead or dying trees from common areas and will continue to do so over the course of the summer. We endeavour to curb the risk of fire danger and enhance aesthetics with the elimination of these trees. We hope that the community will follow suit by clearing failing and dead landscape on their properties as well.
As a reminder, any tree removals on your property will require Administrative Approval. You can get started by clicking here to view the Home Improvement Application.
