The Association of Realtors® School Now Offering Live Continuing Education Courses

In-person activities are beginning to become an option as the state moves through the phases of recovery from COVID-19. The Association of Realtors® School is excited to announce that it will host live in-person classes in Blue Bell beginning on July 7th and Malvern beginning on July 20th. Click here for our summer continuing education schedule. Please note that safety protocols will be in place for live classes and students will be notified of these instructions via email.
For license renewal, which must be completed on or before August 29th, 2020, licensees can also take traditional online education through our online partner, Mbition Learn Real Estate.  Another option, available courtesy of a temporary waiver granted by the Department of State, allows us to offer live streaming zoom courses. The Association of Realtors® School has scheduled virtual zoom classes in July. Registration is required for all continuing education options.
Do you have continuing education questions? Please contact our School Administrator, Gail Parke.

Learn the Facts About and Strategies to Overcome Implicit Bias

Amid calls for racial justice after the death of George Floyd, the National Association of Realtors® has launched a new training video in partnership with the Perception Institute called “Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing,” which aims to help you uncover and address unconscious stereotypes we all have. The video illustrates how the brain’s automatic association of stereotypes with particular groups can cause people to treat others differently or unfairly despite our best intentions and often without our conscious awareness. The Perception Institute training then applies these concepts to the everyday work of Realtors® and offers strategies to override bias in order to convey respect, ensure fairness, and improve business relationships.

Association Office Closed on Friday, July 3rd

The Association's office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in celebration of Independence Day. The office will reopen on Monday, July 6th at 8:00am. Please note that you can access Suburban West's virtual office during off-hours at www.suburbanwestrealtors.com.

C/I Exchange To Meet Virtually on July 10th

The Commercial/Investment Marketing Exchange will meet again virtually on Friday, July 10th via a Zoom Meeting beginning at 8:30am. The event will begin with the presentation “Grocery Store Trends in 2020” by Jeff Metzger, Publisher of Food World and Food Trade News. Annually, Jeff’s company Best-Met publishing, produces a special Food Trade News issue on market study of grocery stores in the Mid-Atlantic region. During this Zoom Meeting with Jeff, he’ll highlight the market trends in the Philadelphia region and answer your questions.
Afterwards, the event will feature a brief Marketing Exchange where you can present your ‘haves’ and ‘wants’. Click here to access a PDF with the connection instructions. Questions? Contact Steve Farace.

Official Property Reassessment Values Will Go Out July 1st

Official reassessment notices will be mailed out to Delaware County property owners on July 1st. The deadline to appeal those updated property values will be Sept. 1. The notices are part of a court-ordered county-wide reassessment project. In 2017, then-Delaware County Common Pleas Court Judge Charles B. Burr ordered the comprehensive reassessment, stemming from a pair of assessment appeals that noted a lack of uniformity. Delaware County Council hired Tyler Technologies, and the values will become effective for the 2021 taxing season. The Suburban Realtors® Alliance has a webpage providing an overview of Delaware County’s reassessment project.
