Myanmar Earthquake
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit the heart of Myanmar on Friday, with at least 144 people being killed and more than 730 injured. Experts estimate over 10,000 people could ultimately be killed and injured due to the gravity of the natural disaster. As Myanmar has continued to experience civil war over the last 4 years, nearly 20 million people are already in dire need of humanitarian aid, and 3.5 million are internally displaced (CNN).
We praise God that our partners are safe in Myanmar after the devastating earthquake, and now, more than ever, we will pray for opportunities to continue to serve the nation of Myanmar and educate about the risks of human trafficking during even higher displacement in the next few months. Please continue praying for our team on the ground, the community we serve, and the nation of Myanmar as a whole!
