The Pick Progress Gallery: Reception & Discussion

The Pick Project Gallery poster exhibition is on display through Sep. 13 in the Edgar Heap of Bird Family Gallery in Chalmers Hall. See exhibition details below. 

KC Parade of Hearts sculpture redesign  

Design the new base sculpture for Kansas City’s Parade of Hearts . The new form will serve as the canvas for artists to share their love for KC in a region-wide art installation during the 2026 World Cup.

LaunchKU – Fundraising for Student Groups 

LaunchKU is a crowdfunding initiative that helps KU students, faculty and staff raise funds for programs that are the most meaningful to them. Crowdfunding is a great way for donors to provide direct support to students and programs – and encourage others to contribute, as well! In the last year, LaunchKU has helped fund student-led projects for Jayhawk Motorsports, KU Club Tennis and The Big Event.

The Pick Progress Gallery is an exhibition of more than 100 posters created by Black artists from across the globe celebrating the empowerment, unity, and resilience of Black culture.

The exhibition includes work by student Nana Amfo Sackey Jr., lecturer Sam Yates Meier, and alum Jon Marzette.

RISO Lab Fellow

Keep regular assigned hours in the RISO lab, assist Design students and faculty with making prints, keep inventory and reorder materials when necessary, run 2-3 workshops per semester for events such as Student Welcome Week, Design Week, etc., keep RISO room tidy and maintained as a constructive space.

Architecture Class Assistant

The Department of Architecture emphasizes design education through various experiences which include learning through making, collaborative research, and community engagement. Job duties may include (but are not limited to): support course preparation, tutorials, and lab sessions. Assist the professor in grading homework assignments, exams and other duties as assigned.

Maintain shop hours with varied schedule including weekend/evening hours. Provide customer assistance to students with the use of a wide variety of wood working tools, metal tools, and related software packages. Must be assertive in correcting or stopping students from using power tools in dangerous or incorrect ways.

🟡 Olafur Eliasson: Experience

Olafur Eliasson is an Icelandic-Danish artist who is best known for his huge interactive works that touch feelings and all the senses. The more than 500-page book takes a deep dive not only into his most famous works and exhibitions but also into lesser-known photographs, paintings and films.

Through hundreds of illustrations bracketed by writings on and by Eliasson, this book provides an unparalleled overview of his remarkably accessible output, from such large-scale interactive experiences as The weather project at Tate Modern, London (2003) to smaller, more delicate works on paper or made of glass, and includes photography, painting, and film.

The Hatch Reading Room, on the 4th floor of Marvin Hall, is here for you to de-stress, work on projects, take a break to read, and enjoy a quiet view of campus. Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. 📚
