New PAR Form Clarifies Buyer Requests for Deposit Returns |
The PAR Legal Hotline fields many questions about how brokers should deal with the return of deposits for transactions that do not close. The Pennsylvania Association of REALTORS have published articles reviewing the steps brokers should take based on the language of PAR’s Agreements of Sale, but that still leaves one lingering question: “What form should a buyer use to request their deposit be returned by the broker?”
To address that recurring issue, PAR has created a new form, the Buyer’s Request to Broker for Deposit (Form BRB). This form provides a consistent, written method for buyers to request the return of deposit funds from the broker holding them.
To read about when to use the form, when NOT to use the form, and how the process works, visit PAR's JustListed blog.

ARS: 88 Days Remain Until License Renewal Deadline, Where Do You Stand With CE? |
| |
With 88 days left until the license renewal deadline, May 31, 2026, now’s a great time to take stock of your continuing education progress and build momentum. Research shows it takes about 90 days to form a habit, so why not make completing your CE part of your professional rhythm?
PA real estate licensees must complete 14 hours of continuing education every other year in order to renew their license. Within these 14 hours are 3 required hours in 'agency relationships' and 2 required hours in 'fair housing.' The remaining 9 hours come from elective courses.
Be sure you’re ready to submit your application for renewal confidently when the portal opens later this spring.

PAR: In Women’s History Month, Single Women Surpass Housing Market Odds |
| |
Despite making less money on average, single women homebuyers continue to outpace men, representing 20% of all homebuyers compared to single men at only 8%, according to the National Association of REALTORS®.
Until 1974, women were not legally allowed to obtain a mortgage without a cosigner. Since NAR began researching and publishing its Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers in 1981, the share of single women homebuyers has nearly doubled. This demographic of homebuyers formerly accounted for only 11% of all homebuyers.
Further, in 2024, single women comprised 24% of all first-time homebuyers. The average age of single women first-time buyers was 40, compared to 34 for their single male counterparts.
“Single women prioritize homeownership,” NAR Deputy Chief Economist and Vice President of Research Dr. Jessica Lautz says. “These women are determined to own their own home and will make financial sacrifices, including moving in with family or taking a second job, to save for a home.”
She highlights that women especially seek the financial stability of homeownership, adding, “As homeowners, women remove the unknowns from their living situation – such as whether the rent increases or they must move due to a landlord selling the property in which they reside.”

SRA: North Coventry Rejects Data Center Plan Before Formal Application
The developer of a “boutique data center” will look elsewhere after public outcry and a preemptive board of supervisors vote showed no appetite for the facility in North Coventry Township. The data center, informally proposed by Envision Land Use, would have been situated adjacent to Route 100 at 299 W. Schuylkill Road, in an industrial lot sitting near a Peco utility substation and a residential development. But swift and early public discontent — and the township’s leadership — stopped the data center before a formal application was even submitted. Supervisors voted that they would reject a proposal for the site eyed by Envision Land Use, said Erica Batdorf, the township manager. It was the first data center proposed in North Coventry.
