Dear Partner in Ministry,

Lent is the time in the Christian liturgical year when we begin formal preparation for Holy Week and Easter. This Lenten season, we will examine the final instructions and encouragements of Jesus to his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion in John 14-17. This portion of scripture is known as the farewell discourse of Jesus and contains some of the most challenging and comforting words in the New Testament. In these chapters, Jesus says he is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through him; promises that those who believe in him will not only do the things he did, but greater things as well; assures his followers that the Spirit will lead them into all truth; and prays that all those who believe in him because of the words of the disciples will be one as he is one with the Father.
Come and join me as we listen in on the last words of Jesus to his earliest followers
and consider their significance for us in these perplexing times. Together we’ll
wrestle with these ideas as well as many others and come to understand more about the life of faith and discipleship.
This interactive class will meet on the first four Mondays in March (2, 9, 16, and
23) from 7:00pm-8:00pm on Zoom. No advance preparation or prior knowledge of
the Bible is expected or required. We’ll learn and grow together. All are welcome!
We’ll study one chapter each week during the first four Mondays in March. Here’s
the schedule:
March 2: John 14
March 9: John 15
March 16: John 16
March 23: John 17
Hope to see you this coming Monday (March 2) for our first session.
John
