The Colonial School Board voted on measures to ensure that our students are attending both virtual and in-person classes. Students who opted in for in-person learning  are scheduled to return on the following dates:

Phase 1 - 10/22/20- Integration A students at Southern, George Read, and William Penn; Communication and Social Learning (CASL) at Southern, Intensive Learning Center (ILC) at Southern

( The programs listed above in Phase 1 are special programs that students were in prior to COVID)


Phase 2 - 10/29/20- Students at Leach, Adult Integration at Leach, Colwyck Pre-K students (CEEP)


Phase 3 - 11/9/20- All Elementary Schools (all elementary students who are not in the special programs from Phase 1), Intensive Learning Center (ILC) at Gunning Bedford, Communication and Social Learning (CASL) students at Gunning Bedford, Integration B at George Read, identified classes at William Penn High School


Phase 4 - 11/30/20- All Middle Schools (all middle school students who are not in the special programs from Phase1 and 3) Wallace Wallin Intensive Learning Center (ILC), William Penn High Integration B  


*The majority of William Penn High School will continue virtual learning throughout the remainder of the first semester (January 29, 2021). The anticipated decision for the 2nd Semester will be communicated to families prior to winter break.

The YMCA is excited to offer Before and After School Childcare right at your Elementary School when our buildings open for face to face instruction on November 9th.  (Please note the YMCA is not currently serving Eisenberg Elementary.)  Students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities to expand learning beyond the school hours. On Tuesday, October 13th a small watch party was held for Colonial’s Teacher of the Year, Khayree Bey. The event, sponsored by the Department of Education, named one State Teacher of the Year. While Bey didn’t win the top honor, he remains top in our District as he continues to put students first, and works hard to ensure that racial equity remains a priority for all. Special thanks to Fletcher’s Kitchen for providing delicious contactless meals, and Joyce’s Sweet Treats for dessert-individually wrapped cupcakes in Colonial Nation colors. It was a great, safe, event!

Tuesday, October 27th, is Choice Night-- an opportunity for families to choose which school they’d like their child to attend outside of their feeder school. This informational session will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM by accessing our website at www.colonialschooldistrict.org.  There will be a question and answer session following the presentation. The Choice window this year runs from November 2, 2020, to January 13, 2021. 

 William Penn is preparing for virtual 8th-grade tours for incoming freshmen.  Continue to monitor Colonial Clippings, your school’s Facebook page, and our website for the dates and times.

William Penn Athletic Director Matt Sabol says his student-athletes are getting used to wearing masks during practices and are now ready for the games to begin. Students have been communicating with coaches and staff about protocols and situations to ensure everyone’s safety. The first games will begin next Tuesday, Oct. 20th when the boys soccer team travels to Delcastle and the volleyball team will host a game against Delcastle. Next Wednesday, October 21st, is Unity Day! This is a day for children and adults across the nation to WEAR ORANGE to show that we are together against bullying, and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Let's show Colonial Nation is united even while we are apart, and fill our Zoom classrooms with ORANGE!
