We are excited to introduce Tania Huycke-Phillips as the new Secretary II at the Brown County Extension. In this role, Tania will support 4-H, Agriculture, and Horticulture programming through assisting volunteers and the public while providing essential administrative support to our UW Extension Educators. Her responsibilities will include creating newsletters and mailings, maintaining program databases, managing program registrations, and updating program calendars and websites.
Tania joins us from the Wisconsin Humane Society, where she worked as a Foster Specialist for 18 years, matching animals in need with caring foster homes. Her time there strengthened her organizational and communication skills and her love for nonprofit and community work.
Originally from Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Tania enjoys reading, fishing, camping, and spending time with her husband, dogs, cats, and various other critters.

The Brown County 4-H Shooting Sports Club offers youth ages 9–19 (must be in 3rd grade) hands-on instruction in air rifle, archery, shotgun, air pistol, and wildlife ecology—all within a safe, structured environment. Led by certified 4-H shooting sports leaders and junior youth leaders, club meetings take place twice a month on Saturdays from January through May at the De Pere Sportsmen’s Club indoor range. The club emphasizes safety, discipline, and respect—values that extend beyond the range into everyday life.

Extension and economic development organizations partnered in the NEW North Regional Business Pitch Competition. Local pitch competitions were held November 10-14 during Startup Wisconsin Week in Algoma, Green Bay, Sheboygan, Manitowoc, and Appleton. Local winners received prize money and now advance to the regional pitch event.
