Welcome! The Graduate School welcomes everyone to this refreshing new year. We are happy to have our students back on our newly named campuses. Whether it's the Valley Campus located in Allendale or the City Campus located in Grand Rapids, there is a home for all our fellow Lakers. Be sure to take advantage of the wide range of resources available to all graduate students which can be found on The Graduate School website.
- National Voter Registration Day: Join us in celebrating National Voter Registration Day on September 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. by the Cook-Carillon Clock Tower. Bring your friends to indulge in popcorn, music, and yard games. Partners from Ottawa County and Allendale Township will be there to help you get registered to vote!

Technology Summit: Are you fascinated by the future of technology at GVSU? Be a part of GVSU’s first ever Technology Summit! The Summit is a celebration amongst our university’s community on progress and innovation in technology. Any amount of expertise is welcome and encouraged to be a part of the celebration. Event registration closes September 19, 2025. More information can be found on the Technology Summit website.

Professional Development: The Graduate School’s Professional Development Programming is designed to help graduate students with networking, growing their academic skills, and so much more. The variety of workshops will be led by topic experts. Registration for all workshops, as well as additional information, can be found on the Professional Development website.

Project, Thesis, & Dissertation Information: Project, Thesis, and Dissertation workshops for Fall 2025 are coming up! The first workshop will be held virtually on September 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Additional dates can be found in the Save the Dates below or on the Thesis and Dissertation website. Students completing a thesis are required to attend a workshop.

Thesis Boost: The GVSU Writing Center is an amazing resource for all GVSU students. On October 20th and 21st, 2025, the Writing Center is hosting a two-day program called the Thesis Boost to provide graduate students with support and time to work on their Project, Thesis, or Dissertation. Registration is now open and due by October 9th. The Graduate School is reimbursing the cost of the registration fee for those who join for the entirety of the two-day program. More information can be found on the Writing Center website.

The Graduate School wants you to feel supported throughout your academic career. The GVSU Counseling Center offers a wide range of free counseling to all students including group, individual, crisis, as well as a variety of events throughout the year.
