Faith House Orphanage/Transition Home Update

We are continuing our COVID-19 protocol with both the Orphanage and Transition Home.
We were able to have two fun activities this past month to break up the cabin fever the girls and den moms have been experiencing. We had a special meal catered into the orphanage and brought the Transition Home girls to the Orphanage to eat and play games. On our second activity, we brought all the girls together to the property to have a picnic where the girls ate and played games. The girls enjoyed both events and have requested more. We are currently planning another activity.
The school administrator, principal, and secretary continue to organize school projects for the girls while they are in quarantine.
The girls are also continuing to have Bible studies with the orphanage coordinator.

Newest Member of the FGIM Staff

Meet the newest addition to Faith House Orphanage and FGIM family, Flower!

Flower is a German Shepherd currently being trained to be a security pup for FGIM.

Do not let her cuteness or her name fool you, though. She will be a wonderful addition to the current security measures we take to keep our girls and the rest of our FGIM family safe at Faith House!

Construction with Chase

We are excited to share that there has been so much progress on the new Faith House Orphanage in the past three months! The foundation wall is complete and Chase's employees began pouring the slab. Since March, 40 men have been employed. That means 40 men have heard the gospel! Every week Chase leads a Bible study with his employees after work. We are beyond excited about our Faith House girls having a nice home to live in, but we are equally excited about the men in our community who are currently employed and hearing the gospel! Please pray that God will use this orphanage to glorify Him and that our employees grow closer to God through working for FGIM and Chase.

We are continuing with our fundraising campaign and praise be to God. We have $100,000 left to raise to complete the new Faith House.

New to the Crew

Our drivers and maintenance manager are thrilled to show you FGIM’s new dump truck!

The dump truck will help the ministry significantly reduce the cost of building the new Faith House Orphanage and future construction projects. It will also allow us to train our drivers in a new skill and provide new services to our community.

COVID-19 Update

Haiti’s COVID-19 numbers are now beginning to rise. People in Haiti are unable to follow traditional social distancing. Officials are beginning to make off-site triage centers to treat COVID-19 patients. Officials had planned to use the former United Nations compound for a triage center in Jacmel, but when the neighbors of the compound found out, they were furious and burned the compound down. Officials have stated they will make sure that doesn’t happen again and have plans to open a different compound. Please pray that the virus stays out of our community and for officials to be wise as they set up these centers to help avoid overwhelming the hospitals. Faith House Orphanage has remained quarantined and has had plenty of supplies available for the girls.

Being able to plan ahead and store food is a COMPLETE luxury that our neighbors here in Haiti do not have the ability to do. Many people go to the market almost every day and many do not have access to electricity or clean water in their homes. Self-quarantine is hard when people are living on daily wages and ten or more people share a one-bedroom house. Our Haitian friends have grown skeptical of the virus as numbers have taken their time in rising. We are extremely thankful to God for the slow virus rate, but we are praying people remain vigilant to take all precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

Update from the Church

Pastor Toussaint began working as the pastor of Perspective Novelle Church in March of 2019. He has been married to our Faith House coordinator, Madam Sherely, since July 23, 2016. They have a 3-year-old daughter named Abigail and a baby boy named Spurgeon born on July 22, 2019. In addition to pastoring New Perspectives Novelle, he is also a Bible teacher at two local colleges in Jacmel. His favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.

We are so thankful for Pastor Toussaint’s leadership during this challenging time in Haiti. COVID-19 has caused churches in Haiti to close for traditional services. But, Pastor Toussaint has followed God’s call to bring the church together through holding several prayer services on Sundays with a maximum of 10 people per Haitian law. This has been fantastic for our church members to still come together at a distance and pray together and dig into the Word of God together. In addition to the small prayer services, our church staff has worked hard to record all messages to send to church members on social media and through WhatsApp. Please be in prayer for Pastor Toussaint and our other church leaders as they seek to share the gospel and be the light during this challenging time.

Update from our School

The school continues to remain closed because of COVID-19 restrictions. Our administrator and teachers have provided work for students to do at home much like students have done here in the United States.

Pray for our staff: All of the FGIM staff are currently safe and healthy. We are operating with reduced staffing at the office, at the church, and on our maintenance crew until the Haitian government lifts off some of the restrictions. The critical staff who are still working have been working hard to keep everything running smoothly. Please pray for continued good health and that our critical employees won’t wear out with the extra work-load.
