Join us in Wells for the

30th Anniversary

Island Mountain International Harp School
(And Cello too)

Monday, August 15 - Friday, August 19, 2016

We are thrilled to announce an incredible line up of instructors coming from all around the world including Canada (Sharlene Wallace & Caroline Mackay), USA (Seumas Gagne) and Scotland (Phamie Gow). We have also invited Morag Northey to teach a cello workshop. In the mornings delve into your level specific session and in the afternoons choose from a number of different musical topics. The Harp School has been a career and life changing experience for many harpers over the past 30 years. Come join us!

Phamie Gow

Recently described as being “one of Scotland’s most unique talents”, Phamie Gow’s diverse range of musical talents (multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, producer, Musical Director) and her collaborations with other world-class artists has brought a strong new breadth of undeniable talent to the world. We are excited to have Phamie teach the Advanced class and lead an afternoon session on arranging and composing with Sharlene Wallace.

Sharlene Wallace

Sharlene Wallace tours internationally giving concerts, workshops and masterclasses. Winner of two international lever harp competitions, she has created seven independent CDs that feature many of her own compositions and she has just released her latest album, In Night’s Deep Silence. A perennial favourite at the Harp School, Sharlene will be working with the Intermediate level students in the morning and joining forces with Phamie for a fun afternoon session for all levels.

Seumas Gagné

Back by popular demand, Seattle's Seumas Gagné has been playing the music of the Scottish and Irish Gaels on the Celtic harp for more than thirty years. After finishing his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, his attention returned to his first love, the traditional music of Scotland and Ireland. Seumas will again lead a Intermediate level morning session and and afternoon session on Gaelic songs.

Caroline Mackay

Caroline Mackay creates a space where the mystery of Harp and the magic of Voice become one. Tender Celtic ballads and spirituals, lively Latin rhythms, original works and Classical arrangements are part of her diverse repertoire. She is the Director of The High Spirits Music Harp School, creating a systematic new curriculum and inspiring hundreds of students. We are very pleased to have Caroline work with the beginner and novice students in the morning and in the afternoon work with Cellist, Morag Northey for a session on singing with your instrument.

And Cellist Morag Northey
