Senate Resolution Honors NAM Anniversary

On March 5, 2021, the official 200th Anniversary of NAM, we gathered at the steps of the Tennessee state capitol to accept a Senate Joint Resolution honoring 200 years of our members serving Tennessee.  Click here to see more photos and details on our facebook page. Thank you to Senator Jeff Yarbro, Sen. Heidi Campbell, Sen. Brenda Gilmore, Sen. Rusty Crowe, and Representative John Ray Clemmons for sponsoring SJR0182 to honor and commend the Nashville Academy of Medicine upon the occasion of our bicentennial anniversary. This ceremony was attended by a small group of NAM leaders amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are looking forward to celebrating with more of our members later this year.  See the next section about October 2!

Save the Date: NAM Bicentennial Gala – Oct. 2, 2021

This year is all about the number 200 for NAM! Today, we are 200 days away from our bicentennial grand gala on Oct. 2, benefiting the Medical Foundation of Nashville. This event will follow the health guidelines in place at that time, and we are excited to celebrate with our members and community partners. Here's a fun fact – 2021 also marks 225 years since Tennessee was granted statehood! Check out our Facebook posts for unique historical facts throughout this year as we celebrate 200 years and count down to the event.

Virtual Day on the Hill Was a Success

On March 3, more than 80 NAM member physicians participated with the Tennessee Medical Association’s Virtual Day on the Hill, more than any other region in the state. Thank you to our members for bringing your voice (virtually) to our legislators about issues important to medicine. Scope of Practice, Balance Billing, GME Funding, PBM Reform, eliminating the Professional Privilege Tax and prohibition on Co-Pay Accumulators were top issues of discussion.

2021 Dues and Tax Reminders

We are in our member renewal cycle! Please check your email and mail for your 2021 dues bill from TMA/NAM if you have not renewed yet. As you are preparing your 2020 taxes, federal tax law allows a percentage of professional dues to be deducted as a regular business expense. The deductible amount is the percentage of the annual dues that is not used for lobbying activities.

85% of dues for NAM / TMA are deductible.
