The primary purpose of the Healthy Communities Coordinator position is to work in coordination and collaboration with local agencies, food systems partners, and community residents to plan, implement, and evaluate policy, systems, and environmental change interventions to increase healthy food access and physical activity opportunities for individuals with limited income. The position will facilitate and coordinate with key food systems stakeholders, partnerships, and collaborations that reduce silos, increase resident voice, and maximize the impact of this work.
Additionally, this position will work closely with statewide colleagues on building healthy community initiatives, including complementary plans, collaborative training, and professional development opportunities, and aligned evaluation as appropriate.

In February, Melinda Pollen and Patrick Nehring, as part of the Non-Profit Leadership Certificate with UW- Green Bay, taught a course, Building an Effective Board of Directors. In the 2.5 hour virtual class, Pollen and Nehring shared information and resources on board structure, orientations, agendas, conflict of interest, fiduciary responsibilities, board member roles and responsibilities, membership recruitment, strategic planning and leadership styles. Sixteen adult participants were in the course, and engaged in conversation and learning.

| Grant Writing Basics Virtual Workshop |
Since the Fall of 2022, Community Development Extension Educators from across the state delivered three grant writing workshops, where a total of approximately 225 participants from nonprofits to local governments learned the basics of grant writing. Grant writing is an essential skill for building organizational and financial capacity.

Brown County Seed Library 2024 Gardening Season Launch Party |
Join us at the Brown County Central Library for the 2024 Gardening Season Launch on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 12-3 p.m.

presentations related to seeds and gardening will be offered by the seven local organizations that have partnered to create and operate the Seed Library. This event is the first day to obtain seeds from the 2024 Seed Library collection.
