The Office of International Programs (OIP) is seeking volunteers from Seton Hall community for its Holiday Dinner Program: Thanksgiving 2023. The program provides an opportunity for international students to experience Thanksgiving and for Seton Hall community members to invite international guests into their homes. Our goal is for participants to share in friendship and cross-cultural learning through this traditional American holiday.

Hosts can request any number of international students to join their Thanksgiving celebration. To sign up, please complete the following form. Host applications will be accepted until Friday, October 13. OIP will provide applicants with information regarding the international student(s) assigned to their family on or around Friday, November 3.

| Father Alvaro Ramos Shares Missionary Journey with Seton Hall Community |
Father Alvaro Ramos, a Catholic missionary doing impactful community work in Honduras, visited the Seton Hall campus on September 26, sharing his life story and lessons from his missionary work with the youth of Honduras with the Seton Hall community. During his visit, Father Alvaro recorded a podcast on Lessons in Leadership with Buccino Leadership Institute student, Kaila Engle. He provided the homily at the 12 noon Mass, and afterwards the Office of Campus Ministry and Division of Volunteer Efforts) hosted a lunch and learn discussion with students, faculty and staff. Father Alvaro Ramos's journey from a successful business career in banking to becoming a Catholic priest and humanitarian is a remarkable story of selflessness and dedication to helping those in need, very much aligned with the mission of Seton Hall University.

| Degree Works Now Available to Faculty and Advisors |
The Office of the Registrar is excited to announce that Degree Works, a web-based platform designed to streamline and enhance academic advising, is now available to faculty, staff, and administrators on the South Orange and IHS campuses with advisor status. Degree Works provides the essential tools needed to help students track their degree progress, evaluate different academic pathways, and make informed decisions about their coursework and future career goals. Advisors are encouraged to explore the platform and attend upcoming training sessions to learn more about Degree Works' powerful tools and features. The UAC, a cornerstone of our commitment to assessment best practices, convenes at least four times annually to foster a culture of continuous improvement. This year, we have exciting and interactive plans in store for our meetings. Learn more.

Join Us for Fall Workshops: October 6 and November 3
Our fall workshops will take the form of engaging workshops with a special focus on peer review and feedback for academic program assessment reports. These sessions have been thoughtfully designed to encourage robust discussion and the sharing of insights and best practices in assessment.

To kick off our assessment season, our first workshop upcoming this Friday, October 6 will use a group-format approach, designed to stimulate conversations about assessment practices. A light lunch will be provided for all participants.
| Save the Date: Spring Meetings: February 23 and April 5
Looking ahead, our spring meetings promise to be equally enriching. These meetings will include a combination of internal and external speakers. These experts will provide their own insights into various facets of assessment, broadening our understanding and enhancing our approach to assessment.

Center for Social Justice Secures Grant for Housing Assistance and Advocacy
The Center for Social Justice of the School of Law, under the leadership of Professor Lori Outzs Borgen, CSJ Director, has been awarded the third year of funding from the state of New Jersey in the amount $1.183 million, bringing the total funding for three years to $3.733 million, to provide legal services for low- and moderate-income tenants in need of housing assistance; train law students and law graduates in housing law; and advocate on behalf of tenants. With this investment, and in cooperation with Rutgers Law School, CSJ formed the Housing Justice Project (Diane K. Smith, Managing Attorney), launched the Housing Justice Corps fellowship program, expanded clinical opportunities for law students with professors Kevin B. Kelly, Abdul Rehman Khan and Adelina Herrarte, and established the New Jersey Legal Design Lab (Hallie Jay Pope, Director).

Attend this virtual session to hear from a panel of experts as they discuss preserving academic integrity in light of rapidly emerging AI capabilities. Symposium Explores Integration of Humanities and Business Education
On Friday, October 20 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Bethany Hall, the Seton Hall Business Humanities Academy will host "Integrating the Humanities and Business Education," an all-day symposium that will explore how the humanities can be used to understand and teach business. The event will feature keynote presentations from distinguished leaders in the field, as well as a special session dedicated to courses developed by Seton Hall University faculty.
