Hot AC/WROI (92.1fm, Rochester) welcomes morning host Jon Bowen. Mr. Bowen last worked in Taylorville, Illinois for Miller Media. There, he did news and sports. Mr. Bowen graduated from The University of Indianapolis in 2017. Bair Communications owns WROI, while 3 Towers Broadcasting runs the station under an LMA (pending sale to 3 Towers).
Central
A news crew from Nexstar's FOX affiliate WXIN-TV (Channel 59, Indianapolis) was recently held up at gunpoint. This happened while they were covering a local news story on Emerson Avenue. The thief stole their news vehicle, and it was found near the scene. Nobody was injured, no station equipment was stolen, but a few personal effects were missing.
Where Are They Now? Former WXIN-TV Managing Producer Allen Beckner becomes an Executive Producer at KMTV-TV in Omaha, Nebraska.
Westcentral
Former broadcaster Taylor Brown died earlier today in Indianapolis, after falling at home this morning. Mr. Brown began his broadcasting career at age 15, working in Linton for WBTO. His broadcasting journey took him to many places, including Las Vegas. In Indiana, he worked in Terre Haute for WTWO-TV, WBOW, WVTS, and for Dave Crooks' DLC Media (News Director).

Bettie Englebrecht died on October 2, at age 99. John and Bettie Englebrecht founded WIKY(AM) and WIKY-FM (820am, 104.1fm), and formed South Central Broadcasting. Ms. Englebrecht donated the 820am license to University of Southern Indiana, who turned it into WSWI Radio. Here's the complete obituary.
Raycom NBC affiliate/WFIE-TV (Channel 14, Evansville) Owensboro reporter Katie Kapusta exits and will soon join another local TV station. Ms. Kapusta joined 14News in October 2017.

WICR Radio at the University of Indianapolis is accepting applications for a Director of Engineering. This is a full-time, exempt staff position. The Director of Engineering (DOE) oversees the technical operations of WICR-FM, its HD channels, and Internet streams. The position holder is also the Designated Chief Operator for WICR Radio according to the requirements of the Federal Communications Commission and, as such, is responsible for ensuring the station complies with applicable FCC rules and regulations. The DOE is responsible for developing short and long-term facility plans, recruiting and teaching a student staff, facilitating equipment maintenance, and providing technical support, as needed, for television and the communication department.
Three years of broadcast engineering or related experience is required. This includes experience with and knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations as they pertain to licensing and operating a full-power FM/HD radio station, radio frequency transmission and reception systems; and computer networks, operating, and digital audio systems. Experience teaching/training/managing staff members on the proper operation of radio studio and transmission equipment is also required. Candidates must have obtained a bachelor's degree in communication, telecommunications, media or a related field.
