The Big M
The Big M
Eighty-one years ago, two students tramped through the snow on a hillside in Platteville, Wisconsin, carving out an "M" big enough to be seen from a distance. Frozen in place that winter, it inspired the creation of a permanent marking the following spring: the world's largest "M." The "M" soon became an iconic symbol of UW-Platteville's history, garnering national attention along the way. But why an "M"?

 Join the Board 

Looking for a way to get involved and give back to the university? Join the Distance Education Alumni Board! 
The board is currently looking for new members. Members must meet the following expectations: 
  1. REQUIRED - All board members must be active members of the UW-Platteville Alumni Association.
  2. REQUIRED - The board holds four meetings via conference call each year. Board members must participate in at least two meetings per year. (Four is preferred, but we know conflicts happen.)
  3. PREFERRED - Members should participate in at least one activity or committee per year. These are limited and generally only take a couple of hours.
