Monday, September 26, 2022 we will be doing Health Screenings. Grades 1, 2, 3 & 4 will be screened for height, weight, & vision. Any kindergarteners and 7th graders that did not have a Vision Screening at the time of their physical will be screened. Also, if they failed the vision screening we will re-test them.
Grade 3 will also be participating in an oral screening completed by UNMC Dentists. A letter with more information about the oral screen will be sent to third grade parents. There will be a separate day for hearing screening this year. More information to come about hearing screening at a later date.
Re-screening day is scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2022. You will get a letter if any problems are found after the re-screening.
If you don’t hear from us, all is well. When doing the Health Screening we follow the guidelines and mandates set forth by the state of Nebraska.

St. Vincent de Paul Feast Day Service Projects
The Feast of our patron saint, St. Vincent de Paul, is around the corner.
Our school service committee has worked hard to plan service activities for the week that will help the students understand there are people in our immediate community who are in need, and how we can help them.
Students Pre-K - eighth grade will collect
*Peanut butter
*Jelly
*Hearty Soups
*Canned chicken
*Cereal/Oatmeal
*Canned Fruits (pineapple, mandarin oranges, applesauce) are always appreciated.
Our food drive began on Monday, September 12 and will continue through the feast day of St. Vincent on September 27. Please prayerfully consider how your family can help those who are struggling with food insecurities at this time. Every little bit helps!!!
Perhaps your child(ren) could help you shop for those items, or do chores to make money to help pay for the items donated.
We are very excited to also be offering students in Grades 2 - 6 tours of our food pantry. We feel that if they see how much food is needed and how much their donations make a difference, it will help them to take ownership in our food drive. Students last year in grades K and 1 were able to have a tour and it was very powerful.
St. Vincent de Paul’s legacy is his charity and compassion for the poor. We hope you’ll join us in teaching the children about how he modeled God to everyone, and how they can do the same.
Thank you!

Safe Environment Alert
Today’s Disney is not the same as your childhood
Parents Be Aware:
Disney Plus, FX and Hulu has a new animated series out:
Little Demon
There are images of hell, demons, and the main character is a female Antichrist. It promotes violence and depravity. The actress who is the voice of the main character celebrates that it promotes paganism.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)”
Guard our kids’ hearts and minds. They can not unsee or unhear these graphic and evil images. Culture has normalized and embraced all that is not of God.
If you have Disney Plus, FX or Hulu make sure you have parental controls set up.
Hug your kids and consider doing something nontechnology as a family.
“The child is the beauty of God present in the world, the greatest gift to a family” St. Theresa of Calcutta

The students in grades 6-8 hosted their grandparents and special friends on Monday, September 12. Our guests joined the students for Mass, donuts, and a special presentation by representatives of the Open Door Mission.
The students and their guests created placemats that will be used at the Open Door Mission. The morning would not have happened without the many volunteers who helped set up, serve, and clean up. Thank you! A special thanks to Nancy Maiers, who led the way in making the event possible.
