Building Momentum in 2022
Building Momentum in 2022
'Building Positive' is a familiar phrase at BNIM that describes the ways our practice leverages a collective capacity for design thinking to help solve issues at every scale, focused on building the positive attributes of community and the built environment to create transformative outcomes. As we start the new year, we are keeping our goals and commitments for 2022 top of mind, ready to continue building positive momentum at every opportunity.

Be it breaking down the infrastructural barriers established by interstate and park systems in Kansas City, helping Las Vegas on the path to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, providing supportive housing for 52 unhoused seniors in San Diego, bringing state-of-the-art science and tech facilities to midwestern campuses, or reimagining a campus museum as a library and laboratory for the arts in Iowa, we invite you to take a look at six exciting and impactful BNIM projects and initiatives to kick-off 2022!

BNIM is honored to be included in the Walton Family Foundation Northwest Arkansas Design Excellence Program to help address potential challenges in the region’s rapid growth and create  spaces that foster meaningful, shared experiences.
“BNIM has always believed that projects have a responsibility beyond their immediate site [...] Our team is thrilled and honored to learn we’ve been selected to participate in the NWA Design Excellence Program and is excited to work with the selection committee and the Walton Family Foundation to shape and strengthen the community by helping create resilient, inclusive public spaces that celebrate place and build regional capacity.”

Eighteen architecture and design leaders, including BNIM Principal Kevin Nordmeyer, were asked by ARCHITECT to share their Hopes, Fears, and Predicted Disruptors in Design for 2022. Kevin emphasizes his hopes for greater participation in inclusive design for those engaging in design, construction, and use of buildings that will elevate the human experience.
"Much more can be done as we create inclusive businesses and environments that embrace the diversity of our abilities. The hope is that this inclusive spirit emanates from design into our communities, changing hearts and minds while translating into policy, advocacy, and actionable programs for positive impact."
