Welcome back, Lakers: The Graduate School is so excited to have you on campus. Whether you are new to Grand Valley or a returning student, it is a great idea to get involved in and around campus! For new students, the article "10 things every new Laker must know" could help you start learning about campus traditions and resources.
- Ask an Alum: As the new semester begins, it is important to get connected with the resources you need to be successful. The “Ask an Alum” form gives current students access to Laker alumni, who are happy to provide insight that will help you determine the best path for you!

Silent Disco: Looking for something to do this Friday night? Venture over to the Valley Campus for a Silent Disco on the Kirkhof Lawn! The event is hosted by the GVSU Campus Activities Board and runs from 8:00pm-12:00am. Arrive early with your GVSU ID, as headphones are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Laker Family Weekend: This year, the Laker Family Weekend runs from Friday, September 18th, to Sunday, September 20th. With events such as the “Fun(d) Run with Recreation and Wellness,” a live carillon performance, and an improv comedy show by GVSU’s own Subject To Change - there is truly something for everyone to enjoy! Mental Health Ambassador Training: On Friday, September 25th, the Certified Mental Health Ambassador training will take place in the Kirkhof Center from 9:00am-3:00pm. This event will allow participants to obtain skills in identifying situations of mental distress and providing empathetic support. Registration will close on September 21st, but be sure to register early! Can’t make it to this session? A similar training will take place on Friday, January 29th, 2027.

Career and Internship Fair: It’s never too early to start planning for your future! Visit the Devos Place Convention Center on Tuesday, October 13th, from 1:00-5:00pm for the Fall Career & Internship Fair. This event will allow you to connect and network with an estimated 200+ employers with openings and prospects for post-graduation engagements.
