The News is Out!
The Mahaiwe is leasing a second space in the Castle Street firehouse, next door to the theater! As construction nears completion, we are dreaming up ways to make our corner of this historic structure our own. Once the space takes shape, we’ll be able to flesh out our plans for this project and share more with you. In the meantime, we envision a space that will build on the Mahaiwe’s brand and reputation, serving our audience and the appetite for more, with new flexibility, accessibility, and creative possibilities.
Strategic Plan
The Mahaiwe's recent momentum is a result of careful planning. The Mahaiwe’s current five-year Strategic Plan was adopted by the Board of Directors in October 2023. With your help, we are going places!

We are deeply honored to be highlighted on the website of the Barr Foundation of Boston, MA, for the Mahaiwe's SCAN – Spanish-language Community Advisory Network – program and work with local Latinx communities. Kudos to SCAN partner VIM Berkshires, appreciation to the many funders who make it possible (including the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation's Art Builds Community Initiative, which is supported by the Barr Foundation's Creative Commonwealth program), and deep thanks to our friends at the Barr Foundation for capturing this labor of love so vividly.

Staff Picks: What We Can't Wait to See
"I first got hooked on Keb’ Mo’s music after hearing his self-titled album back in 1994. Since that time the man has done it all! He’s been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards and has won 5. He’s played live at the White House for Obama. He was featured on a TV series, The Blues, produced by Martin Scorsese. He’s even performed with Elmo and Kermit the Frog on an episode of Sesame Street. Can’t wait to see him live on the Mahaiwe stage, it’s going to be special."

"Ben Folds has been one of my favorite musicians since the halcyon Ben Folds Five days. My first time seeing him live was in 2000 at the Palace Theatre in Albany and I've made a point to see him every time he's been nearby since. He hasn't performed a full concert in the Berkshires since 2013 at Tanglewood so don't miss your chance to catch this show and see one of the last great rock pianists in this ideally intimate setting."

"I am so excited to have Samara Joy headline the Mahaiwe’s 2024 Gala, our biggest fundraising event of the year. Fans of the 24-year-old jazz vocalist know what a talent she is, and many have heard her in small clubs. Since winning her third Grammy Award, I doubt she'll be appearing too often at intimate venues like the Mahaiwe. My current favorite song of hers is, 'Why I'm Here,' which she co-wrote and recorded for the Netflix movie Shirley, which chronicles the life of another female powerhouse. You'll want to be in the house on August 1."

Mahaiwe receives Gaming Mitigation Fund grant
Mass Multural Council (MCC) announced last month that the Mahaiwe is among cultural institutions to receive a grant through the foundation’s Gaming Mitigation Fund program. According to MCC, “These awards are a source of mitigation and aim to provide state assistance to those most directly impacted by the operation of resort-style casinos in the Commonwealth.” These funds will help us bring you the great national headliners you expect at the Mahaiwe. Read more.
