Strategic Conversation: Pathways to Opportunities

Join in on the district-wide conversation on different pathways to opportunities with the NOCCCD Board of Trustees. Background papers on the topics for discussion are on the District website here. Participants should select two topics to discuss during breakout sessions.
The topics are:
  • Redesigning America’s Community Colleges 
  • The College Promise in California: A Collection of Program Profiles 
  • Meet Higher Education’s Newest Players: “Education Sherpas” 
  • Career Technical Education Pathways Initiative  
When: Tuesday, April 25 at 3:30-7:30 p.m.

The Upside of War

Featuring Keynote Speaker Mike Scotti, U.S. Veteran
Cypress College Upside of War Movie Screening
The College Veterans Resource Center presents this free screening of "Severe Clear," a documentary looking at the realities of war using footage shot in Iraq.
Keynote speaker Mike Scotti, co-producer and narrator of the film, as well as a former U.S. Marine who served in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq, will speak and answer questions.
When: Friday, April 21 at 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Where: CCCPLX 216
INVOLVEMENT
Women in Politics Symposium
Cypress College students, staff, and faculty are invited to attend the nonpartisan Women in Politics Symposium on how to increase the number of women in elected or appointed political positions. The symposium is presented by the Orange County Legislative Task Force and California Women Lead.
Early bird tickets are $20 for students and $40 for non-students if purchased by April 21, or $30 and $50, respectively, if purchased after April 21.
When: Friday, April 28 at 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Where: Fullerton Community Center 

EVENTS
Cypress College Sex Day
Celebrating Love, Sexuality and Diversity is an event aimed at promoting respectful, responsible love and sexuality while, at the same time, advocating for reduced risk of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies. The event hopes to normalize and embrace communication about sexual health and loving relationships.
We’ll have food, music, games, and prizes, as well as College and community resources related to sexuality.
When: Wednesday, April 19 at 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Cypress College SAAM Event Clothesline Project
In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, join the Cypress College Health Center in welcoming the Clothesline Project for an event at the Pond. The project shares powerful personal messages about sexual assault and other violence against women. Community resources and free health screenings are available.
When: Monday, April 24 at 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.

Patrons of the Arts Spring Concert

You are invited to attend the Cypress College Patrons of the Arts Spring Concert featuring performances by Cypress College dance and music students, the Polaris Performing Arts Academy and a Polynesian dance group from Artesia High School.
Tickets are $10 and help support Fine Arts students.
