Good Afternoon,
For those traveling to NAB, safe travels, and I'll see you there. If you want to set-up a time to meet, please reply to this e-mail.
From the Podcast Playlist: Local Evansville broadcaster and Radio-TV history aficionado Rob Calhoun joined the WFIE-TV (Channel 14, Evansville) "Inside Look" podcast to discuss the media landscape.
Hoosier Ag Today adds veteran broadcaster Greg Allen as Content Manager. Mr. Allen will provide farm news on over 100 radio stations across Indiana and Michigan (via their co-owned Michigan Ag Today). In Indiana, Mr. Allen once worked in Logansport radio (WSAL, WLHM, and WHZR), and in Anderson for WGNR.
Northeast
After a fire that devastated the radio studios of Impact Radio’s Classic Hits/WQCT (1520am, Bryan, Ohio) and an FM translator, along with Classic Rock/WBNO (100.9fm, Bryan, Ohio), they are now working on building out their new studios on High Street in Bryan. The stations plan on moving there over this summer.
At Nexstar CBS affiliate/WANE-TV (Channel 15, Fort Wayne), Kortney Grimm exits. Ms. Grimm interned at WANE-TV while a Huntington University student and then worked part-time and moved to a full-time reporting role over the last 2+ years.
Gray Media’s ABC affiliate/WPTA-TV (Channel 21, Fort Wayne) welcomes sports anchor and reporter Nia Hinson. Ms. Hinson last worked for KMIZ-TV in Columbia/Jefferson City, Missouri.
Where Are They Now? Former WPTA-TV meteorologist Caleb Chevalier now is a meteorologist for KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Missouri.

Gray Media’s NBC affiliate/WNDU-TV (Channel 16, South Bend) welcomes sports director Brendan Reidy. Mr. Reidy last worked at sister WGEM-TV in the Quincy, Illinois/Hannibal, Missouri TV market.
Yesterday, Rob Rupe retired from Hot AC/WZWZ (92.5fm, Kokomo) after broadcasting on Kokomo radio since 1985 and at various other Indiana radio stations (WWHC, WBMP, WSHW, WNDE, WKLR, and when Emmis owned WNAP.)
Here’s video of Rob's last on-air break.
Sound Management's CHR/WNDV (92.9fm, South Bend) adds morning host Tommy Bickham (back in mid-February). Mr. Bickham last worked in Champaign, Illinois radio and TV, but previously worked in South Bend at WAOR (102.7fm, Ligonier) back in 2021-2022.
Weigel Broadcasting's ABC affiliate/WBND (Channel 57, South Bend) reporter Jackie Bauer exits after over 3 years with ABC57 and joins the reporting team at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati.

Gray Media closes on their acquisition of CBS affiliate/WLFI-TV (Channel 18, Lafayette) from Allen Media Group.

This Week in Indiana Radio History
Sign-on dates seem to be a prickly matter, subject to great debate, and mostly impossible to confirm. If there is something we need to add to the calendar, please let us know. Please also e-mail us if you have updated information.
April 12: In 1983, 100.1fm in French Lick signs on as WFLQ (and still is). Here is their sign-on.
April 13: In 1953, WSKS ('Wabash School Kids' Station') 91.3fm, licensed to Wabash (and owned by Wabash High School) signs on the air with 10 watts. In 2016, WCVL (1550am, Crawfordsville) adds an FM translator: W221CS (92.1fm, Crawfordsville).
April 14: In 2003, WGLL (1570am, Auburn) signs on after six months of silence.
April 16: In 1967, 95.3fm, then licensed to Monticello signs on as WVTL. Today, it's WBPE, licensed to Brookston.
April 17: In 2014, WFNB (92.7fm, Brazil) flipped formats from Adult Hits ('Bob FM') to Hot AC as 'B92.7.'
April 18: In 1967, 1540am in Martinsville signs on as WCBK. It's now WMYJ(AM). Also, in 2005, Goshen's WKAM 1460am flipped formats from Soft AC to Regional Mexican.
Employment Opportunities
In need of someone to mix a three hour weekly syndicated radio show – Wayback Saturday Night®. Experience with Cool Edit Pro and/or Adobe Audition, as well as Dropbox, is a must.
The work involves mainly connecting pre-recorded parts in a specified order and requires roughly a five-hour commitment per week. It’s an excellent opportunity for the right person to make some extra cash and grow their resume while learning some good radio programming techniques. Broadcast students welcome!
The show is based in Terre Haute, IN. A hire from the Wabash Valley would be nice. But given today’s technology, it’s not a prerequisite.
WSN is available on demand at waybacksaturdaynight.com

That's all for this issue. Thank you for your continued support.
