Connecting Faith and Work

"What is the biggest story you're believing about work or business?"
Join other Valor parents and professionals on January 29 at 8:30 am as Jeff Haanen, CEO and founder of the Denver Institute for Faith & Work, addresses this question and the idea that your faith and work are interconnected.

MLK Weekend Modified Schedules

There will be no school on Monday, January 20 due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Tuesday, January 21 will be a late start, beginning at 10:00 am with red period.

Taste of Discovery - Tickets on Sale Now!

Taste of Discovery is coming up on Sunday, February 9! This is an exciting social event that takes guests on a culinary trip around the world, with food samplings from more than a dozen live kitchens. A silent auction will be featured, and proceeds benefit this year's Discovery students and teams.

  • Restaurant Connections: Discovery is currently contacting restaurants to provide food for the event. Do you have a connection with a local chef or restaurant? If so, we would love to chat with you! Please contact Jennifer Gribble by email or at 303-471-3387.
  • Donate an Auction Item: Do you have an item you'd like to donate to the Taste of Discovery silent auction? Fill out this form and bring that item to the Discovery office by February 4. Thank you for your generosity!

Winter Dance: Night in the Movies

Valor Student Leadership Board presents the second annual winter dance and costume party, Night In The Movies, on Saturday, February 1 at 8:00 pm in the small gym. Choose to dress as a famous celebrity, a movie character or a moviegoer and party with your friends. No masks or weapons, please.
Watch for ticket sales available for purchase this week online for $20 or $25 at the door.

Share Your Story of Faith and Business

Each spring semester, the Valor business department offers a business lecture series for all Valor students. We know there are many great business and faith stories within the Valor community and we would like to learn from you! Are you interested in sharing your “faith and business” story?
Lectures take place during lunch from 12:00-12:30 on January 29, February 26, March 11, April 1, and April 22. 
Please RSVP to David Haar if you would like to offer your services.

Spring Practicum Opportunities

Preview Practicum Week opportunities available to students. Options include snowboarding, cooking class, film projects, national trips, and more. Sign-ups begin January 19.

New Service Hour Process

All students and parents received an email this week outlining the changes for uploading Discovery service hours. Discovery will now be utilizing an app for all service hour sign-ups and submissions.
Students must download the Helper Helper app from the App Store or Google PlayCheck out the tutorial for a peek into the Helper Helper app.

Parent Bible Study Opportunities

All parents are invited to join Bibles studies for moms and dads as they start again for the second semester.
  • Dads: Thursdays weekly, 6:30-7:30 am, Valor Center Upper Lobby
  • Moms: Thursdays weekly, 8:30-10:00 am, Valor Center Upper Lobby AND Monday evenings (1/13, 1/27, 2/10, 2/24, 3/9, 3/30, 4/13, 4/27) 6:45-8:15 pm, Valor Center Upper Lobby

Junior Family College Night

Save the date for the annual Junior Family College Night for all juniors and their parents on Wednesday, January 22. The Valor Center lobby will be open at 5:45 pm to visit with few college reps who are presenting at the event. The program is from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Academic and College Counselors will be available in the lobby for questions after the program.
All College Visits are during lunch in the Athletic Building Lobby, unless otherwise indicated.

Parent Art Gallery Tour

The Valor Arts Guild invites all parents to the Western Stock Show for a private Curator's tour of the Coors Western Art Show on January 22. Those interested in carpooling will meet at Valor at 9:00 am, and the tour begins at 10:15 am with lunch afterward. Entrance tickets are $12 (Lunch is not included in the entrance price).
