HARVARD'S 2020 GLOBAL HEALTH AND LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE WELCOMES EMILY ALBERTS '22
On May 23-24, Emily Alberts (‘22) participated in Harvard’s 2020 Global Health and Leadership Conference. Emily was among a distinguished group of high school students selected from a global pool of applicants to attend the three-day conference at the Harvard School of Public Health on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, however, the conference was expanded and hosted online.
The conference consisted of panels and lectures from many esteemed medical and health care professionals, ranging from the director of the National Cancer Institute to clinical practitioners assisting refugees during the COVID-19 crisis. Emily was part of a group of students who worked together to develop a COVID-19 case study policy brief that was submitted to the School of Public Health students and faculty.
As part of that process, Emily was able to draw upon her educational experiences at Brebeuf Jesuit, as well as the on-campus medical programs in which she participated at Vanderbilt University earlier this year and at Georgetown University during the summer of 2019. Way to go, Emily!
