The National Science Foundation Committee on Equal Opportunities in Science and Engineering, vice chaired by Kaye Husbands Fealing, dean of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, delivered a report to Congress in August on removing barriers to participation in STEM for individuals with intersectional social identities.

Paul M.A. Baker, senior director for research and strategic innovation at the Center for Advanced Communications Policy and chief operating officer at the Center for the Development and Application of Internet of Things Technologies, has been named a judge for the 2024 CES Innovation Awards. The awards honor "outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products." The winners are announced during the annual CES technology trade show, which is scheduled for Jan. 7 – 10, 2025.

Philip Shapira, a professor in the School of Public Policy, recently participated in a discussion on "Cities as Innovation Spaces," in Leipzeig, Germany. He later presented on “Innovation Intermediaries: Integrating Translation, Responsibility, and Urban Sustainable Transitions” at the 16th Annual Research Conference of the Global Urban Competitiveness Project, hosted by HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
