Yarn Ministry meets this Saturday!
September 7, 2016
Wednesday Night Programing resumes with our first dinner on September 14th!  That evening, we will have cards available to write encouraging notes to our College and Graduate students: 'Operation Reach Out' If we do not yet have your son or daughter's current mailing address, please click here to send it to us. We want to be sure they know their home church is thinking of them and praying for them.
Next Wednesday's Menu:  Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips, tea and lemonade.
We would like to have home-made ice cream for dessert!  If you can help us by making a freezer of ice cream,
please let us know by replying here.
New classes for children, youth, and adults will begin the following week, September 21st.

Help for the Homeless
We are collecting new and gently worn men's clothing for the month of September. These items will stock the clothing closet of Grace Place in Jackson. Bring your donations to church at any time this month, and Aubrey Leigh Goodwin will deliver them for you!
We also have drawstring bags filled with water bottles, snacks, and hygiene items ready to give to those in need.  You can help us!  Please pick up a few bags after church this Sunday to keep in your car.  That way, you will be ready to meet the immediate needs of those God puts in your path as you go about your day.  Thank you.
After counting the 4th-6th Grade Sunday School class offering for the semester, the class decided to use their funds to buy linens for the Bunk Bed Ministry. Linda Irby, (just one of their stellar teachers - Drew Pruett is the other), did some online shopping to find where they could get the most value from their $72.81At Macy's, she was able to find two beautiful bed-in-a-bag sets that were originally priced at $100 each.  They were on sale, there was no tax, and shipping was included.  Care to guess the total?  Yep.  It was EXACTLY $72.81 God is so good!  Thanks, kids, for YOUR faithfulness, too!
Youth: meet us at Reunion Beach this Sunday, September 11th at 5:00 pm for
Burgers & Kayaks

Bring a chair or blanket.  We'll grill burgers, and enjoy the beach and the water!
Kairos Team #37 meets again this Saturday at PHUMC to continue to prepare for their CMCF event in October. Here is a note from Kairos Advisory Council Chair, Laney Crampton:
It is truly obvious that Parkway Hills UMC is focused on community outreach!  I want each of you to know how your servant hearts are reflected in our ministry.  All of this year's Advisory Council meetings are held at your church. You are also hosting all of our team formation meetings in your education building.  Not only are you providing us space to meet, but your recent communion offering, designated to support our mission, has even allowed us to provide lunch for our five team meetings. (Thank you for your good work, Louise Johnson!)
One of Parkway Hills' core values is to "nurture and care for those within and beyond our walls."  Central Mississippi Correctional Facility for Women is surely beyond your walls. Please know that your nurturing and caring spirits are helping us with our mission to be God's vessels in sharing the Holy Spirit with women who are incarcerated, many of whom have never known the love of Christ. Thank you, and God bless you all.

PS: Don't forget to CLICK ON THIS PRAYER VIGIL SIGN-UP SHEET; choose a 30-minute time slot, and commit to praying for these women!    Sign up today!
Yarn Ministry meets this Saturday, September 10th at 9:00 am in Ann Weissenborn's home.  Join us to knit and crochet socks, slippers or booties for St. Dominic's Eldercare Program.  Help us warm some hearts by warming some toes!
