Eat clean.
If you’ve ever gotten sick from something you ate, you know why safe, clean food really matters. Food safety is a worldwide public health issue. Each year, April 7 is World Health Day—a great time to focus on what you can do to protect yourself from foodborne illness and its possible long-term health issues. 
These four simple steps can help you stay safe from food poisoning at home:
1. Clean. Wash your hands, utensils and food prep surfaces often. Read how and why it matters.
2. Separate. When shopping or cooking, raw meats and produce need their own space. Learn how to prevent cross-contamination.
3. Cook. Bacteria thrive in undercooked food. Instead of “eyeing” it, know if your food is really "done."
4. Chill. Promptly storing food in the fridge or freezer can keep it safer and fresher longer. Know when to pack it up or throw it out.
