| Pool Reopening Timeline & Updates
We’re excited to share that the lap lanes and large hot tub are now open. The recreation pool and baby pool are scheduled to open on Saturday, May 23.
We are currently waiting on a part for the small hot tub, which will also allow the jets to function properly in both bodies of water. Thank you for your patience as we work to get everything fully operational in the near future.
We’re also happy to report that a large portion of our new patio furniture has arrived. The only remaining items are the pool umbrellas for the tables and lounge chair areas. While we wait for those to arrive, we will use our existing umbrellas.
Given a delay on doors and windows, the East Wing Addition is now expected to open in early June. While it will soon look complete, we have inspections and last minute details to attend to before occupancy can be allowed.
We appreciate your continued patience as the remaining items arrive, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the pool soon!

Reminder to Remove and Store Deer Fencing |
To view the Design Review Guidelines on deer fencing click here.
As a reminder, the deer fencing removal deadline was extended through Friday, May 15, to give residents additional time to take down and store fencing for the summer season. Now that the extended deadline has passed, we kindly ask any residents with remaining fencing in place to remove and properly store it as soon as possible to help maintain the beauty of the RVR community.
A friendly reminder to RVR residents storing deer fencing for the off-season: please ensure all fencing materials are kept out of sight from the street and neighboring properties. Whether stored in a basement, attic, crawl space, garage, or offsite location, fencing should be placed where it has no visual impact on the RVR community.

A handful of RVR residents supported the Independence Pass Foundation Saturday and got some exercise along the way, climbing 2,330 vertical feet over 10 miles on the way to the ghost town of Independence, elevation 10,930 feet. The occasion was the 32nd Annual Ride for the Pass, a fundraiser to support the Foundation’s efforts to "restore and protect the ecological, historical and aesthetic integrity of the Independence Pass Corridor."
Among RVR participants: Kevin Kreuz, who finished first in the 70-79 age group; Chris Woods, who finished third in the 70-79 age group; Sandi Kister, who finished 10th in the women’s 50-59 division; and Gary Lesser, who was the first e-bike to finish — for the second year in a row. His unofficial time of 41:40 would have placed him among the top overall finishers; his e-bike obviously gave him some much-needed pedal assist. E-biker Sarah Murr, in her first ride up the pass, finished just a few minutes behind Gary.
The Ride for the Pass ends four miles short of the actual Independence Pass summit. Old Town residents Laura Hanssen and Dan Walsh rode all the way to the top of the pass — 12,095 feet. Their round trip to and from the start line took about two and a half hours.
More than 235 riders participated. For complete event results, click here.

20 MPH for a Safer Community |
As summer approaches and school lets out, our community roads and sidewalks become a little busier with families enjoying the longer days. Children will be out riding bikes, neighbors will be taking evening walks, and more residents will be spending time outdoors throughout the day. As activity around the neighborhood increases, we encourage everyone to slow down and stay alert while driving through the community.
Please remember that the speed limit throughout RVR is 20 mph. A little extra caution can go a long way in helping keep our roads safe for pedestrians, cyclists, and families enjoying the summer season.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep our neighborhood safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for all. Here’s to another wonderful summer in the community!

Thinking About Fire Mitigation? Start Here |
Did you know that small, proactive improvements can make a meaningful difference in reducing wildfire risk around your home?
As part of the ongoing Ranch House renovation project, a few fire-wise updates are already underway, including the removal of multiple evergreen trees and the addition of fine mesh gutter guards and vent screens. These thoughtful upgrades help prevent dry leaves and debris from collecting in gutters and reduce the chance of embers entering vulnerable areas of the home, simple changes that add an extra layer of protection.
| |
For those considering similar improvements, a mesh size of 1/8 or 1/16 inch is recommended to help block embers while still allowing for proper airflow. (One important note: this type of mesh should not be used for dryer vents, which require unrestricted airflow for safe operation.)
The RVR Design Review Committee continues to support homeowners in making fire mitigation improvements. In fact, the Twenty-Second Amendment to the Design Guidelines, adopted last year, was designed to make these kinds of updates even more accessible. Homeowners now have greater flexibility to reduce tree counts, there is an emphasis on thoughtful, qualitative landscaping rather than strict numbers.
If you’ve been thinking about making fire-wise improvements, it’s a great time to get started. Administrative Review Applications are free, and many projects can be approved quickly through this process. Larger or more complex projects may be reviewed by the committee, but either way, we ask that a Home Improvement Application be submitted to get started.
