- SJSU Digital Twin and Embodied AI Lab is Now Open
The SJSU Digital Twin and Embodied AI Lab provides a university-wide environment for hands-on learning, experimentation, and interdisciplinary research involving digital twins, artificial intelligence, simulation, and physical AI. Managed through the College of Information, Data and Society, the lab supports teaching, research, experimentation, and collaboration among students, faculty, researchers, and partners. Users can create interactive models of real systems, connect models with real or synthetic data, test scenarios, and develop tools for monitoring, prediction, optimization, and decision support. | Contact: dt-lab@sjsu.edu

- AI Research in Sport Management Receives Top-Five Recognition
Dr. Juha Yoon, Assistant Professor of Sport Management in the Department of Kinesiology, co-authored a study on AI-enhanced analytics in sport communication. The research examines how predictive data analysis, automated content generation, and message personalization can support environmental sustainability communication in sport. The article, “Artificial Intelligence–Enhanced Analytics in Sport Communication: Advancing Environmental Sustainability Through Stakeholder-Centered Strategies,” was recently recognized by Human Kinetics as one of the Top Five Research Articles in Sport Communication.

The Lucas College of Business and Plug and Play recently celebrated the first year of Spartan Spark Academy, which supports student innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of AI-enabled ideas.

- Edge AI Hack 2026 | September 21–26 | SJSU Student Union
The Department of Applied Data Science, with sponsorship from HP, will host Edge AI Hack 2026 for currently enrolled SJSU students. Teams will build on HP ZGX Nano™ technology over five days, September 21–25, with final pitches and presentations on September 26. All SJSU students are welcome to attend the September 26 event, watch the top six teams pitch live, meet recruiters and industry professionals, and participate in open networking after the event. SJSU’s AI Brand Partner can help users brainstorm ideas and create clear, brand-aligned webpages, newsletters, social media posts, promotions, and other communications. - SJSU Library Launches New AI Transparency Resource
The SJSU Library has launched AI in SJSU Library Resources, a new resource to help students, faculty, and other library users understand how AI is incorporated into library databases and research tools. The resource identifies the types of AI used in different products, whether tools can be used without AI-enabled features, and what vendors disclose about data retention and the use of user data for model training. It is intended to make AI features more visible and support informed decisions about whether and how to use them.

- New AI for Social Good Series Comes to King Library
The SJSU Library’s 2026–2027 How Can AI Be Used for Social Good? series brings together workshops and programs exploring AI in research, creative work, education, and communities, while also considering the responsibilities and risks associated with its use. The series began with a September 8 workshop on AI-powered motion capture using Blender. Additional workshops, demonstrations, conversations, and programs will be announced throughout the academic year.
