Sojourner Truth: First Steps to Freedom
is a bronze sculpture by local artist Trina Greene, which depicts Sojourner Truth's 1826 journey to freedom with her daughter, Sophia.

Having completed an historic, two-year tour of the Hudson Valley, the sculpture will complete its journey with installation in front of SUNY New Paltz's Sojourner Truth Library, where it will serve as a lasting tribute to Truth's legacy and connection to the region.
