This month marks a year since we lost Joel Reidenberg, our colleague and friend at Fordham Law School. As sad as his passing is, Joel's legacy lives on.
The Center for Information Law and Policy continues to engage in promising research and important public programming on the current issues of the day. The Information Law and Policy curriculum, a program he helped to shape, remains robust and popular with students. Colleagues around the world continue to speak and write effusively about his scholarly impact, including his work on the intelligibility of privacy policies, EU data protection law, and the governance of transatlantic data flows.
In recognition of his remarkable impact and achievements, Fordham has established the Annual Reidenberg lecture. We are thrilled to announce that
Judge Denny Chin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Second Circuit will deliver the inaugural lecture on April 29, 2021 (by Zoom) at noon. Judge Chin, a very active Fordham alum, worked with Joel in a variety of different settings and, as much as anyone else, knows about the impact Joel has had on information law and policy. More than this, Judge Chin's decisions have been in the vanguard in information law and policy in the United States. There is probably no more suitable person to deliver the First Annual Reidenberg lecture.
Such a lecture would be enough to honor Joel. But we are thrilled that a panel of leading information privacy law scholars, all of whom knew Joel and his work, will give remarks immediately following Judge Chin's lecture.
