Introducing the Dornsife Download

Welcome to the inaugural Dornsife Download e-newsletter dedicated to keeping web editors up to date with news about the USC Dornsife website.
Here you'll find information about WordPress updates, best practices for the web  and useful tips to help you manage your site. We'll send regular updates, but not too often.
As always, if you need assistance with your site, you can find resources and support on our website project hub or you can reach out to the web support team directly at webproject@dornsife.usc.edu or via our Slack channel.
Now, here's the download.
👤 Update Your Directory Profile

Is the information on your public USC Dornsife directory profile up to date or could it use a refresh? While the look of profiles has changed with the redesign of the website, they continue to be populated with information you update in MyDornsife and should be reviewed on a regular basis.

✅  Major Milestone Complete

In December, we officially completed the second phase of our website redesign project.

Web editors from around the college and members of the web project team moved all remaining websites – nearly 400 lab, research and professional/portfolio sites in total – off of our old content management system and over to our new WordPress platform. This was no small feat as each site had to be built manually.

The web project team would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped make this happen. Thank you for your time and effort! We could not have done this without you.
Tips, Tools + Best Practices

🔧 Optimize Your Site for Accessibility

Our new website is built in accordance with ADA accessibility guidelines, but it's up to all web editors to use best practices when adding content to sites to make sure they are accessible for all users.

ℹ️ Add a Global Footer to Your Site

Since the launch of our site last year we've added a new function: You can add a footer to every page of your site with your unit's contact info and edit it all in one place.

🔑 Who Has Access to Edit Your Site?

Ten months have passed since we launched our new site and in that time the people who should have access to edit your site may have changed. Take a moment to review who has access to your site and update their permissions, if necessary.
