The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering (AE School) has appointed ProfessorĀ Marilyn SmithĀ (AE 1982, M.S. AE 1985, Ph.D. AE 1994) as theĀ David S. LewisĀ Professorship, named after the visionary leader in aerospace engineering whose legacy continues to inspire discovery and excellence.Ā

| Yang Honored with the Highest Distinction for Notable Achievements in Aeronautics |
Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering (AE) Regents Professor Vigor Yang has been selected to receive the 2025 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Reed Aeronautics Award. The commendation recognizes Yangās significant contributions to the understanding of combustion physics in aerospace systems, technological innovation in aerospace propulsion, and advancement of aerospace engineering education and literature.

From the Classroom to the Capitol: Georgia Tech Students Make an Impact
AE student Samuel Martinez was one of twelve Georgia Tech students making their mark at the State Capitol this legislative session as part of the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP).Ā
Martinez was placed with Senator Chuck Payne of the 54th District (Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security Committee).
He plans on becoming an engineer for a major firm with an emphasis on service to the community. Later he wants to develop a STEM program for students in his home community of Willacoochee, Georgia.
Each intern plays a vital role in supporting the work of legislators and committees, contributing to policy discussions, and gaining practical insights into state government operations.
