Make a GIF

GIFs can be fun and instructional. They are great for demonstrations, are often much smaller in file size than a video and will repeat on a loop. Have you wondered how to make one? Adobe has a great little tool to easily convert a video file into a GIF.

How to: High Resolution Figures for Publication from PowerPoint

Has a publisher ever asked you for “high resolution” figures and you weren’t sure what to do? Here is one way to create them using PowerPoint and Photoshop.

First, PowerPoint

  • Create your figure in PowerPoint
  • Fill the slide with the figure
  • In the File menu, click on Export
  • Save the slide as “JPEG”

Then, Photoshop

Photoshop is available from GW. Download the “Adobe Creative Cloud” (CC) desktop app. Open it and sign in with your GW credentials. Then download Photoshop from within CC. (Detailed instructions for logging in)
  • Open your JPEG in Photoshop
  • Under the “Image” menu, choose “Image size”
  • Check “Resample”
  • Change resolution to “300”
  • Click OK

In case you missed it, last month Maranda Ward from the department of Clinical Research & Leadership ran an interactive workshop: What Decolonizing Our Classrooms Looks Like. The workshop featured four student research activists from the CORE HEALTH lab who discussed scenarios and strategies for incorporating Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) into educational experiences. This was the first in a series of events funded by the GW Office of the Vice Provost (OVPR) University Seminar Program.
