Searching for the Next Worship Pastor

1. Worship is a Core Value
Worshipping authentically is one of our highest values at Deermeadows. We strive not to attempt any false pretenses with our God. We can be confused or contented and He still receives us. We can be angry or joyful and God will not reject us. In the process of being genuine before our God – not only on Sundays, but each day – He transforms us into His image. Our world desperately needs God’s image bearers walking among them.
Where God has brought us by Mark Groves’ ministry, and the ministry of previous worship pastors, is now our baseline. We are obligated to build on it and keep the church moving forward for this and future generations of worshippers.
2. Searching is a Process
With the assistance of the Personnel Committee, the church will select a search committee. As the previous paragraph states, this committee’s duty will not be to preserve our preferences but to discover who God has to lead the church forward to reach our city for Christ and to help each of us enjoy a total lifestyle of worship.
The search committee will work to determine baseline qualifications for candidates – all the while remaining open to the Spirit’s guidance (remember: your current pastor had his own phone number wrong on the resume...and you still invited me in). These baseline qualifications will be determined with direct input from the congregation of Deermeadows.
The search committee will report regularly to the church as they explore multiple outlets for candidates, conduct thorough research, determine whom to interview and, in time, present this person to the church to be considered for the position of Worship Pastor.
At this point, the committee has not been selected nor has anyone been invited to serve on the committee.
3. You have a Part
Will you please begin praying each day for the work of those who will be involved in the search process? Will you pray also for God to signal in our next worship pastor’s heart/mind and in their family a call to respond to serve the church at Deermeadows?
Prayer is work and I hold the promise of 2 Corinthians 1:11 close at hand,
Please help us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks for the blessings we receive in answer to all these prayers.

Stay Strong & Keep the Faith,
Larry

Senior Adults
Sunday August 2, worship service begins at 11:00 am. All are welcome to attend but a reservation is a necessity! You may sign up on line HERE or call the church office at 642-2200. Due to the need to be safe by social distancing we will only be able to take reservations for 250 to attend. If you are unable to sign up, or if you prefer to wait until another Sunday service, you may still view the service on the live stream as we have been doing these last many weeks. Many seniors may prefer to wait for a while and we understand that as we are in a vulnerable group both because of our age and/or underlying health conditions. That’s okay! Hope to see you in the near future!

"The Fountain" Newsletter

Do you receive the monthly Senior Adult newsletter "The Fountain"?  If not, you can sign up to receive it via email the first of each month by sending your email address to John Snyder . If you are unable to receive it via email, we can mail you one! Just call the church office and leave your name and address, requesting “The Fountain” be mailed to you. We will get it to each month! It includes information, stories, and other items of interest to our Senior Adults.
SERVE
If you're in need of food during these hard times, we can help! No questions asked! No-contact drive through service! Drive up, pop your trunk, and we'll do the rest! (Walk-up service available too!)
The food pantry has been blessed with a large volume of food items. No food donations are needed at this time. But we are in need of financial donations to take care of other essential needs for the Food Pantry. If you would like to donate funds you may do so by check (memo line “food pantry”), in a church envelope designated “food pantry” dropped off at the church office, or online HERE and select "Food Pantry" as the fund where indicated. (Please consider these efforts over and above your regular giving to Deermeadows.)
