With summer in our rearview mirror, AGE+ looks toward the coming months energized about our important work. From program expansions in rural Oregon to connecting grandfamilies with much-needed resources, and exciting developments for our affordable housing projects, our impact is rippling throughout the state thanks to YOU—our partners and supporters. The opportunity to age well in the communities we love is something we all want, so it's AGE+'s mission to make this a reality for all generations of Oregonians. We see a lot of work ahead of us, but also progress as new partners join us each day to create our Shared Future.

During the fall and winter of 2021–2022, AGE+ worked with Oregon’s Kitchen Table to learn more about Oregonians' hopes for aging well. The summary report of this important work is now available! The information from this survey, in addition to other community engagement activities, will help inform Shared Future Oregon.

We continue our quest to engage people in all areas of the state in Community Conversations! Last month, AGE+ and our partners held four simultaneous Community Conversations in Malheur County, as well as a fifth Spanish language conversation on the same day. Nearly two-hundred people attended these meetings to discuss what people want and need as they age. This successful effort showed us that people are interested in talking about aging and doing more to secure a more equitable and inclusive future for all generations. Thank you to our local champions who helped make these events a big success.

AGE+ received funding to build two affordable, fully accessible housing projects for older adults in Madras and Talent! The projects are expected to open by summer of 2023, and will serve older adults at 60% of area median income. This project targets those who can’t qualify for subsidies, but also can’t afford market rate rents.
Additionally, residents can participate in our Circles of Care program to help live independently in the community longer.

Circles of Care (COC), our mutual aid program, is growing! Through a partnership with Hood River Valley Adult Center and Providence Hood River, a new COC location is now active in Hood River Valley. We are busy recruiting volunteers and working with our newest team members to begin accepting client applications this fall!
Looking to the future, we expect to grow additional COCs in Madras and Talent in conjunction with our housing projects.
