This week we're introducing you to three different departments in Health and Wellness at Tufts: Health Service, Counseling and Mental Health, and Health Promotion.

Academic Essentials and the Advising Survey

The Academic Essentials module for All BA/BS students, and the Advising Survey for First-Year BA/BS students, are now open! (As a reminder, Academic Essentials for BFA and Combined Degree students will open on June 17.) Transfer, BFA, and Combined Degree students, don't forget that you need to schedule an in-person or virtual advising appointment with your Advising Dean! Check your customized New Student Checklist 2019 and complete the requirements listed there by June 28.

We also want to remind you that students who would like to take the Chinese, Italian, or Portuguese Language Placement Exam online should do so by June 11!

Note: students participating in Tufts Civic Semester do not need to complete the Advising Survey.

Health Service

Located on the Medford/Somerville campus across from Fletcher Field, Health Service is your place for primary health care. SMFA students are also able to receive primary care through Atrius Health at Kenmore-Harvard Vanguard downtown. All students have access to services after hours in an emergency.

All primary care visits are covered by your University Health Fee!

Students can:

Make an Appointment by calling 617-627-3350 (Put this number in your phone!)
Walk in to Health Service for acute illness or injury whenever our office is open

Counseling and Mental Health

We have a diverse, dedicated staff of mental health clinicians at Tufts. Counseling and Mental Health is located on the northern end of the Medford/Somerville campus. SMFA students are also able to receive mental health services on site at 230 The Fenway. There is a Counselor-On-Call for all students should they need help after hours with a mental health emergency.

Counseling services are confidential and free to undergraduates!

Student can:

Make an Appointment by calling 617-627-3360. (Put this number in your phone!)
Reach the Counselor-On-Call after hours in an emergency by calling the University Police at 617-627-3030. (Put this number in your phone too!)

Health Promotion
Tufts has an office dedicated to health education and prevention initiatives. Health Promotion works with a variety of students and student groups to develop programs related to alcohol and drugs, sleep, stress management, and nutrition.
