Tufts University Undergraduate Orientation
Final details AND reminders for parents and Families
August 5, 2021
Dear New Student Parents and Families,
The Undergraduate Orientation Office is excited to welcome your student to Tufts in just a few short weeks. We wanted to use this opportunity to share a few details and reminders with parents and families regarding Undergraduate Orientation and upcoming Parent and Family virtual programs. Please visit Undergraduate Orientation for updated information and our Parents and Families page for information and registration details for our upcoming virtual welcome programs.
While parents and families can assist students with arrival to campus, there are no in-person parent and family programs this year. Students should be arriving and moving in completely on their assigned arrival day. Parents and families of students participating in a Pre-Orientation program should not be planning to return on September 1. Please visit the Office of Residential Life and Learning for updates on arrival and move-in information.
Parents, guardians, and family members are welcome to join us for any of the upcoming programs. Registration is required. Additional information and registration information can be found on the Parents and Families page of the Undergraduate Orientation website or below. All programs will be recorded and posted on the Undergraduate Orientation website for viewing at any time.

Undergraduate Orientation

Last week, students were sent introductory information on Undergraduate Orientation, and updated information will be sent to them over the next few weeks. The Undergraduate Orientation web page is the best place for updated information and details. A preliminary Orientation calendar will be posted and updated on the website throughout August.
Undergraduate Orientation is required for all new students, including new Transfer students. Orientation will run from Thursday, September 2, to Monday, September 6. On Tuesday, September 7, the University celebrates Rosh Hashana, and classes begin on Wednesday, September 8.
Upon arrival, students will receive a final orientation schedule and other detailed information on how they will navigate the selection of Undergraduate Orientation programming. During Orientation, students participate in a wide range of programs designed to familiarize them with campus resources, build community and connection, and establish skills for independence and responsibility. We divide our goals for Orientation into four broad categories: Intellectual Engagement and InquiryMeaningful InclusionCommunity and Belonging, and Health and Wellness. The Undergraduate Orientation planning team is excited for student arrival and this year's program!

Pre-Orientation Programs

For parents and families of students participating in a Pre-Orientation program, updated information can be found on the Pre-Orientation web page.  Students participating should be hearing directly from program leadership regarding the specifics and logistics of that program. Questions regarding Pre-Orientation can be directed to preorientation@tufts.edu.
